I’m not a CS player but the lawsuit says that Valve charges money for keys to open the boxes, what’s in the boxes has monetary value, and the reason the items have value is because Valve allows them to be bought and sold. These three facts together constitute an illegal gambling scheme.
You could contrast this with the fact that Rocket League no longer charges for keys to open their loot drops and their items can no longer be traded.

Yes even the “collect the cap” ones have to provide a free alternate method of entry.

The “No purchase required” part. In all cases of promotions like these you, if read the fine print you can simply write to the company and they send you a ticket for free.

- Comment on 60% of PC gamers have no plans to build a new PC in the next two years — AI pricing crunch on RAM and other components paralyze enthusiast market 2 weeks ago:
My pc was 8 years old and I had already planned on upgrading so when the prices started going up I got a microcenter CPU/mobo/ram bundle that was still reasonably priced. I paid extra for the video card though. I managed to keep it under 2k buying all new parts but the same build is almost 1k more expensive just two months later.

You’re right about farther back than ancient Rome. A few months ago I went to a mummy’s tomb exhibit from ancient Egypt. People considered shaving so important they were buried with their razors so they could shave in the afterlife. Not just faces either, body and head hair were not spared.

Is a Paregrine falcon any relation to a Peregrine falcon? They look remarkably similar.

Sure but this seems to be a planned procedure rather than emergent. Also you get into areas of implied consent during emergencies.

You know it’s possible to donate blood to yourself before a procedure. I’ve seen this Jehovah witness no transfusions thing several times but no one ever brings up using your own blood.

Did a jeweler tell you that so they could sell you something expensive? Tungsten runs are hard but brittle. They can be broken with a pair of vise grips, just like stone rings.

Peter Parker doesn’t have a leg to stand on in this argument. Dude literally figured out how to synthesize spider silk in large quantities, which is one of the most sought after discoveries in materials science. Then he just uses it to swing around New York City and tie up bad guys. All his money woes would be over with just one licensing deal with Oscorp. His best friend even runs the company so he could stipulate how they use it

I briefly worked for a plumber during my college days to make money. He said the people who kept him in business were people who poured grease down the drain and also people who flushed tampons.

Well I can’t say I didn’t try. I’ve encountered my share of people closing their eyes and thinking of England. Never took it past the initial stages with them and never once did any of them engage in such a conversation.

Grub killers like Grub-x kill firefly larva as collateral damage. The thing is firefly grubs eat other grubs so if you made your area nicer to fireflies you wouldn’t need the grub killer.

I had grandparents who lived in Philadelphia and every summer we would go down the shore to Wildwood when we were kids. Just spending days laying on the beach making sand castles, digging up clams and harassing the horseshoe crabs. Then going to the boardwalk and getting salt water taffy and playing games. Good times.

- Comment on The Witcher 4 got a surprise reveal at The Game Awards, and this one is all about Ciri | PC Gamer 1 year ago:
Ciri can’t be a proper Witcher. She can’t do Signs because she is a Source, as Triss discovered. That was at least half the reason her Witcher training was cut short and Triss took over her training before they sent her to Yennifer. The other half being the herbs and mushrooms they were giving her were interfering with her development. She never got the Witcher mutagens at all. Ciri’s abilities are completely different from those of a Witcher due to her Elder blood.

I think the trope From Cataclysm to Myth actually fits better. It even says in the description "Cousin to Earth All Along, but a premise or a plot twist rather than a Twist Ending. "
