- Comment on Karl Bushby: Made a bet in 1998 that he could walk from Chile to England. 27 Years later, Still walking. Survived Darién Gap, 57 days in a Russian prison, Traversing the Bering Strait on shifting ice 1 week ago:
I don’t see it in the article, but I found the following in Wikipedia’s Talk section:
Karl relates in his book that he hopes to walk through one of the service tunnels of the Channel Tunnel Tommfuller (talk) 12:03, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Read the wiki article above, it has links to other articles where it’s sourcing its information.
Link to article documenting his expedition across the frozen Bering Strait.“Karl Bushby reached land after 14 days walking across shifting plates of ice in temperatures reaching -30C.” “The ice was breaking up behind him as he walked across.”
However, it does appear that some of his walking has been replaced by swimming.
“In August 2024, Bushby started the swim across the Caspian Sea from Kazakhstan, planning to finish in Azerbaijan to avoid going through Iran or Russia, as both countries were then too dangerous to enter with a British passport. Bushby was accompanied by co-swimmer Angela Maxwell and two Azerbaijani national swimmers, Anastasiya Boborikna and Abdurrahman Rustamov.[15] Each day, Bushby and company swam in two 3-hour sessions: one in the morning, one in the afternoon and resting and sleeping on support boats each night.[16] The swim covering 179 miles (288 km) was achieved in 31 days with 132 swimming hours.[17][18] From Azerbaijan, Bushby then went to Turkey to cross the Bosphorus Strait into Europe”He’ll probably end up swimming across the English channel.

Exactly. If we son’t have anything to add besides what the upvote/downvote is already saying, we’d get endless “Same”, “This”, and “No” types of comments.

Welp, that attitude is why the written portion of English hasn’t updated in a long time and is why it’s so bad. Also, English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, wild to call it useless lol.

Maybe we can develop our own Lemmy update to written English?
- Comment on apparently, the T button dosent exist for some people 4 weeks ago:
Interesting, I never thought of it from the perspective of AI before.
- Comment on apparently, the T button dosent exist for some people 4 weeks ago:
I think there’s a lot of change in written English that needs updating. I think the thorn is lowest priority, if not completely unnecessary lol

I printed out a list of gaps in THPS2 from GameFAQs. I didn’t realize it was 80 pages. My mom was really upset. I think I got every single one though.

- Comment on On new installations, Android rebinds the power button to open up Google Assistant 1 month ago:
I loved how at first, I was able to rebind that stupid button to anything I wanted. Then that stopped and it became only Bixby. Horrible decision - Having a button that can launch any app you want is a beautiful thing that more phones need to get behind.

Not sure on the specifics, but I’ve dealt with my fair share of black widows. Their webs usually contain a shriveled up corpse of a male just kinda hanging about.

That diagram isn’t making sense. The tube goes directly from the stomach to the anus? Everything else is just ignored? Either I’m missing something or this is AI slop.
- Comment on Banana 1 month ago:
Exactly. The post calls them being cheap a good thing, but when you know about the slave wages, idk if them being this cheap is that much of a positive.
A lot of people just know that one song from the Beetlejuice movie, but it’s about the workers in banana plantations:
“Come Mr. tally man! Tally me banana.
Daylight come and me wanna go home.” - Comment on Moon talk 1 month ago:
This is Lemmy, where if you even hint at saying “It’s not just Capitalism”, you’ll be downvoted into oblivion.
Don’t you know how happy everyone has always been under communist and socialist governments? Not a single sad soul to be seen under those establishments! /s
