They want to punish him harder than the law would allow so they’re charging him with something he clearly didn’t do? Am I understanding that correctly?
There are plenty of weird laws out there, but if the state is going to pull tricks like this, then do the laws mean anything or are they just weapons to be redefined at will?
- Comment on Well, I guess that settles it 3 days ago:
That’s true but the way that a federal jury works is very different.
It allows them to choose people from outside of the area in which the crime occurred.
Making it a federal trial jury instead of a state trial jury allows them to charge this single murder against an individual perpetrated by another individual who made no public statement with a much more severe crime than the state laws that he broke would normally allow.
It’s also important to note that making it a federal trial makes it less public as there will be no cameras allowed. They don’t want him tried in the state of New York because that could legally be televised which is a bad look when you’ve already got judicial homicide lined up and the trial is purely performative.
Being that they can choose people from all over and that the process of jury selection is even more opaque at the federal level they can make sure there won’t be any nullification issues.
The way they are treating Luigi whether or not he’s guilty indicates that it’s not relevant whether or not he’s guilty. They legitimately don’t care, this is about sending a message that the poors don’t get to fight back.
- Comment on Well, I guess that settles it 3 days ago:
They charged him with terrorism so a regular jury won’t get to make that decision. It will be a federal grand jury of selected stooges, and maybe even a secret court.

I think that’s almost too charitable.
This reads like propaganda written by somebody so far out of touch they can’t even understand what it looks like to people who work for a living.

Using AI driven software is willful negligence. Software can’t take responsibility so the human operating it needs to take responsibility for the consequences of it. They took down the entire thing they need to face consequences. The hosting provider should also face consequences for overly broad responses to take down requests.
- Comment on Do you want the murderer of the UnitHealthcare CEO prosecuted? 2 weeks ago:
Yes, of course he must be prosecuted if he can be found. As a member of the general population I feel as though it’s possible that a jury wouldn’t convict him and could even find him not guilty. Then he is a free man.
Until his identity is known I shall call him Attaboy Goodman, and if a jury were to convene with me on it, I would be unlikely to take seriously any claim by the state that this vigilantism is somehow more destructive of public order than police murdering and robbing people while ignoring wage theft and corporate crimes.

I had a hernia and spent a third of my income on health insurance but still has to shell out 16000 from my own pocket for non emergency hernia surgery.
I hope the copycats make the job of “C-Suite executive at HMO” an unfillable position, but more likely this will finally get the GOP interested in gun control.

The running of a super Nintendo game on Nintendo is batshit insane. This guy understands computer science and engineering in a way that makes it just seem like magic to me, and I’m a computer scientist who works as an engineer.

…and the NBA is supported by the taxpayer.
The entire business model of professional sports requires socializing the cost of infrastructure through subsidizing the transportation, location, and logistics and exempting every one of these monopoly wealth getting schemes from labor laws, antitrust, and public review.
The NBA, NFL, MLB, etc are a scam And they need to learn how to pay their own bills.
- Comment on Who Wants To Be A Lemming 3 months ago:
Do you know the difference between subsidized and self sufficient?

And how much of The profitability of that industry is owed to state sponsorship, tax breaks, and Monopoly exceptions?
Professional sports needs to learn how to pay its own bills before it can be used as an example of why women’s sports aren’t profitable.

Let’s drop the state sponsorship of professional men’s sports and sporting arenas down to the level that we give to the women’s teams and see how those salaries look in a couple of years…

I got (attempted) robbed at gunpoint in my home one time. The only real warning we had was the dogs barking considering they never barked ever.
If the dogs hadn’t warned us, it might have taken longer to call the police and it could have taken them even longer than 1.5 hours to drive 6 city blocks to our house and arrest the concussed wannabe hardasses that tried to rob us.
Good dogs.
