That’s low key the charm of it. I use to only use reddit and it confused me too at first. I never used Twitter but on mastodon you can actually make friends with people. Friends who will discuss the topics you are interested in. I have queer friends on there and gamedev friend and math friends. We are interested in the same things, we boost posts that we all are interested in. Make general often vague looking posts because we know who will see it, like a long drawn out conversation. Its so much cozier than lemmy or reddit where everyone is trying to correct each other or yell at each other or be the cleverest comment in the thread. Thats been my experience of mastodon at least.

Its the algebraic properties that are important, not all vectors are n-tuples, eg the set of polynomials of degree less than n.
You need a basis to coordinate a vector, you can work with vectors without doing that and just deal with the algebraic properties. The coordinate representation is dependent on the basis chosen and isn’t fundamental to the vector. So calling them n-tuples isn’t technically correct.
You can turn them into a set of coordinates if you have a basis, but the fact that you can do that is because of the algebraic properties so it’s those properties which define what a vector is.

It should be magnitude plus orientation, not velocity. Velocity itself is a vector quantity

Oh no, you were right on the money. In G^2^ you have two basis vectors
e1
ande2
. The geometric product of vectors specifically is equivalent touv = u dot v + u wedge v
… the dot returns a scalar, the wedge returns a bivector. When you have two vectors be orthonormal like the basis vectors, thedot
goes to 0 and you are just left withu wedge v
. Soe1e2
returns a bivector with norm 1, its the only basis bivector for G^2^.e1e2^2 = (e1e2)*(e1e2) = e1e2e1e2
A nice thing about the geometric product is its associative so you can rewrite as
e1*(e2e1)*e2
… again that middle product is still just a wedge but the wedge product is anti commutative soe2e1 = e1e2
. Meaning you can rewrite the above ase1*(-e1e2)*e2 = -(e1e1)*(e2e2) = -(e1 dot e1)*(e2 dot e2) = -(1)*(1) = -1
… Thuse1e2
squares to -1 and is the same asi
. And now you can think of the geometric product of two vectors asuv = u dot v + u wedge v
= a + bi` which is just a complex number. In G^3^ you can do the same but now you have 3 basis vectors to work with,
e1, e2, e3
. Meaning you can construct 3 new basis bivectorse1e2, e2e3, e3e1
. You can flip them to bee2e1, e3e2, e1e3
without any issues its just convention and then its the same as quaternions. They all square to -1 ande2e1*e3e2*e1e3 = -e2e1e2e3e1e3 = e2e1e2e1e3e3 = e2e1e2e1 = -1
which is the same as i,j,k of quaternions. So just like in G^2^ the bivectors + scalars form C you get the quaternions in G^3^. Both of them are just bivectors and they work the same way. Octonions and beyond can be made in higher dimensions. Geometric algebra is truly some cool shit. - Comment on teachings 8 months ago:
I think you can make arbitrarily complicated roots if you move over to G^n^ which includes the R and C roots…
For example
(3e1e2e3e4)^2 = 9
in G^4^, complex roots are covered becausee1e2^2 = -1
making it identical toi
so G^n^ (n>=2) includes C.G^n^ also includes all the vectors so any vector with length 3 will square to 9 because
u^2 = u dot u = |u|^2

All the people trying to explain why division and multiplication are the same and dividing by fractions bla bla bla…
But it’s missing the point that a cell dividing is nothing like algebraic division so the analogy just doesn’t make sense.
Saying its “dividing in half” so its actually “x/0.5 = 2x” doesn’t make any sense because the phrase “divide in half” in every other context means “x/2”…
Any ways if you want to model a cell dividing you should use an exponential

not really but also kinda? it feels like getting your ass fucked i dunno what you wanna hear…
prob more detail than you want so spoiler
it’s like asking if cumming and peeing feel the same, they are distinctly different but kinda similarish in that fluid is being moved… pooping is like just a bodily function, you push and things fall out… wipe and flush and move on… not much emotion other than relief. Getting ass fucked is completely different, it’s like having one of your most intimate areas opened up and penetrated in a way that simultaneously feels taboo but amazing at the same time. You aren’t pushing you are relaxing and there is a thing inside you hitting parts you didn’t even know you had. Your ass being stretched and held open, if you are properly relaxed it feels amazing, if you are nervous and clenching then it can be painful for both parties. If you have a prostate then getting that hit will force prostate fluid out and you won’t really cum but just sorta start leaking fluid, it’s wild. The term for this is prostate milking… Over all there is just a whole host of sensations and emotions involved in proper anal such that describing it as reverse pooping is not really accurate. Are there overlaps? Yes, but it’s still a very unique experience.

I think the saner option would be communal food preparation, but like with real human food and not the capitalist slop that is fast food. A lot of people don’t want to, or don’t have the energy for cooking. It’s pretty time consuming and energy intensive, even when you have the time for it. For most of human history communal food prep was the norm.
When I was at school at a fairly large university I ate at the cafeterias and literally I never ate better and more healthy in my life than when I was there. The food was just normal food, and it was always available and high quality. I feel like cafeterias like it should be possible all over the place, sure it was a well funded school but I don’t really see why they shouldn’t be possible. I dream of returning to school often for that reason, as well as the walkable layout and close knit community.

Getting mental health conditions properly diagnosed in a clinical environment is absolutely not that simple. I am basing this off of more than a decade of going through the US mental health system at a high level of utilization. I am not saying that OP shouldn’t try to get a professional opinion, it can be valuable but its not the end all be all. People need to absolutely understand that a lot of the time the doctors are just guessing at what is wrong mental health wise and are subject to a lot of biases. Hearing what other people online have to say and self evaluating is absolutely still a valuable thing to do and dismissing op by saying “go to a doctor” is actually anti helpful.

Also why is their voice so fucking amplified. Like why are we forced to hear their whiny bitching about how they have to pay a marginally better wage to their employees. ABC just went out of their way to find one annoying prick and gave them a platform to spew their procapitalist garbage. And if you have ever eaten at a place like this, the food is the most generic bland shit imaginable. These are the pricks who are complaining, exactly the kinda entitled fuckers you would expect.

The most obvious is how the trisolianas quite literally feminize the human culture/population in an attempt to make humanity weaker. Also the whole plotline where they have to pick a new person to hold the button keeping the transmission of their planets location going out. They make a huge point of arguing a woman can not do it (because to push the button would mean both earth and trisolarios would be destroyed) but in the end the humans vote for a woman to do be the next person to hold the button, and then it turns out they were right and she is unwilling to push the button after the trisolans start invading the earth again. Literally right when she is voted in, they start invading. Also a lot of the female characters in the book like the main dude’s wife in the first book are not really fully fleshed out characters and are more just objects for the guy to try to possess/protect.
Its been a little while since I read the books but that’s the stuff I can think of off the top of my head.

Something that I feel no one talks about is the weird misogyny in the books… They were very creative books but they also had a LOT of misogyny baked into the plot and no one seems to point it out… Hope the netflix adaptation avoids that but I’m very sceptical.
