- Comment on Reports: EA set to be sold to private investors for up to $50 billion - Ars Technica 1 week ago:
My EA internship at one of their Canadian offices was the best experience I’ve had in the gaming industry. I feel for my colleagues there, no doubt the work culture is about to get real toxic for them.

Can’t believe I forgot about the glorious green King of the Swamp. Forgive me.

men on average think about sex about 8 times as much as women
Spontaneous thoughts of sex /= the entire spectrum of sexual desire.
They’ve done studies.
I’m not even gonna get into the sociological aspects of this, it’s a meme community.

A lot of my female friends are, for a lack of a better term, “woke” (not derogatory) and they have grievances with stuff Cavill has said in the past in regards to women and feminism. I’m not sure on the details, but it was enough of a turn off for them apparently. I have no skin in the game.

I love everyone in the comments trying to argue what is the objectively best min-max strats of going to the gym and finding a partner, as if Pyramid Head, Bowser, and Shadow the Hedgehog aren’t always topping the “God I wish they were real” lists for women. Girls are just as horny as guys, they just don’t show it outside certain spaces due to societal constraints.
Men, what I’m saying is: get into cosplay. Thank me later.

Henry Cavill. Look at women’s reaction to him, and tell us we’re wrong for wanting to include physical stature into our personal goals.
Most women I personally know actually aren’t that attracted to Henry Cavill. It’s the dudes that think he’s the perfect specimen.

OH I see it now. Yeah, the area with Aerith’s house is gorgeous, and I was already enamoured with it in the OG with PS1 graphics. Remake really is great with the environments.

The first screenshot for me is Rude pulling a wrestling move on Cloud, so I’m really wondering if I’m missing a joke…

“iPhone” gets more clicks than “Pixel phone” I guess.
Literally all phones right now are fugly monochromatic bricks. Even the foldables, they’re just thicker bricks.

It’s so interesting that the Roche fight is where you felt the combat click, because it was the exact same for me! The game got waaaay more enjoyable once that happened, haha.
I know people dog on the remake for not being the OG/overpriced/a scam/whatever, but I really enjoyed my play through.
- Comment on I fixed Borderlands 4's stuttering issue by upping my shader cache size to 100 GB, which feels like something I shouldn't have to do in a well-optimised game 3 weeks ago:
But when did you play it? Release BL3 and updated/optimized BL3 are two completely different beasts(Reddit link warning).
Same as games like the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk, fans playing it in release year vs 2025 are gonna have completely different experiences. And BL 3 release was also messy, albeit not as bad as this. I was there.

I didn’t think a lot of drives were actually permanently borked, were they?
I’ll pitch in my anecdote: I updated to Windows 11 3878, everything was fine. Downloaded Helldivers onto my gaming drive overnight, and woke up in the morning seeing that the SSD was not being detected (WD Black NVME, no heatsink). Pulled it out, put it in another PC, saw that it was being detected, so I rolled back the Windows update because that’s the only other thing that had changed. Drive works fine again.
SOMETHING definitely happened, but I think it’s waaaaaaay over-reported tbh.
- Comment on Today’s game consoles are historically overpriced 5 weeks ago:
You misunderstood: current gen* isn’t* getting price drops while previous gen usually did. Current gen PS5/Pro and Xbox Series S/X are all actually more expensive now factoring in inflation than at launch. Since the Switch 2 literally launched two months ago, we can’t really talk about price drops for it, so we compare the Switch 1. The article headline is correct, and all of this is in the body of the article.
- Comment on Today’s game consoles are historically overpriced 5 weeks ago:
That’s not what this article is talking about though. It’s talking about how single generation consoles don’t get any price drops anymore. The comparison isn’t Switch 1 vs Switch 2 prices, it’s launch Switch 1 vs current Switch 1 prices.

The can’t even publish games properly at this point. They’re just gobbling up other studio/publisher’s products for Gamepass.

Damn, that sucks. Good luck to the admins of lemm.ee on their future endeavors.

I think a lot more people use weed killers and other pesticides in their yards than previously as well, since they’re more commercially available. We even have “summer subscriptions” in my city for this (yeah, I know, ugh). I finally stopped using that stuff on my yard and I have a lot more critters in it than my neighbours.

According to their Wikipedia, Techdirt only accepted money from Charles Koch’s foundation for a lawsuit (amongst other donors), and are owned by Floor64.
Floor 64’s website only has 2 people listed in their management team, but I couldn’t dig up if either are linked to the Koch’s (I was pretty cursory about it though).

I’m literally so confused, what are you even arguing about anymore? That Pew poll regarding scientific distrust is specifically related to the Covid pandemic, but you’re taking about measles, and also how this has been going on for a decade. Which is it, and why are the sociological elements I’ve mentioned before not value added according to your authority?
All this over a simple comment about the Human Genome Project.
Again, enjoy your crashout. If you feel validated, that’s all that matters ig 🤷♂️
- Comment on That's why it's called science fiction duh 6 months ago:
Measles vaccinations being down can also be linked to mandatory vaccination laws being taken off the books across states during the last decade. It says nothing about the inherent levels of scientific education of the parents doing so.
Previously, parents were mandated by law to have their children vaccinated at birth or to attend schools. We don’t know if they would have opted to vaccinate their kids if it wasn’t mandatory.
Again, very condescending reply from you, considering correlation /= causation is a basic rule of research.
- Comment on That's why it's called science fiction duh 6 months ago:
Then let me be succinct: There was never any “science appreciation” among the general public, and if you think there was, you’re in a bubble. A specific, most likely higher educated and most likely American bubble. You’re just hearing voices outside the bubble now.
Condescending comments like your reply might contribute to the science derision though, just saying.
- Comment on That's why it's called science fiction duh 6 months ago:
Science derision, has been around for forever, look up the history of anti-vaccination leagues in the UK and US in response to the small pox vaccine in the 1800s. There were antivax parents at my primary school in the 90s too. They were just in pockets of small communities before, and therefore wielded less power. Social media has allowed them to gather into one town square and allowed them to reinforce each other’s delusions, amplify their voices, spread (aptly) like a virus, and most importantly tie it to a political/culture war.
Or it’s the consequences of lead and heavy metals poisoning finally coming to their natural conclusion regarding the function of the human brain.
