- Comment on How common are 80 to 100 mph winds in LA? 5 weeks ago:
Very unusual. In the winter and spring Santa Anas are common but that’s more like 20-30 with gusts up to 50. Maybe gusts up to 60 in the canyon areas.

You had a moonlighting clause as a QA tester? The fuck?
- Comment on Help 2 months ago:
Sorry for using the solution that was right in front of me, free, and took ten seconds.
Should have watched a YouTube tutorial, paid for photoshop and done it myself the good old fashioned way.

The new MS photos app actually has an AI-powered tool that can do precisely this. Was shocked at how well it worked for this exact use case.

- Comment on Should we create a new political party in the US, specifically for shitting on the rich? 2 months ago:
We need electoral reform that implements a system where more than two parties becomes viable. Imagine splitting left-leaning voters even more than they are now. It’s guaranteed wins for Republicans.
First Past the Post must be done away with and there should instead be a coalition of voters that refuse to support ANY candidate that doesn’t make it their primary campaign policy. Once that’s done, smaller parties will organically be created and incorporated into the system.
Support organizations listed here, specifically FairVote.

- Comment on Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare coming to PC October 29 4 months ago:
For the first time in its storied legacy, John Marston’s beloved journey can be experienced on PC in stunning, new detail, with both Red Dead Redemption and its iconic zombie-horror companion story, Undead Nightmare, arriving to PC on October 29.
In collaboration with Double Eleven, this new version adds PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.
There’s also support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.
Check out the new trailer above and stay tuned for more details, including information later this week on how to pre-purchase Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare at the Rockstar Store, Steam, or the Epic Games Store.
- Comment on [Tom Warren] The PS5 Pro still hasn’t sold out in the US or UK. Looks like the $700 price point will mean this console will be readily available this holiday 4 months ago:
Well I’m a consumer and I can guarantee you that i can tell when a game is running at 30 vs 60 fps.
Still not buying a Pro though.

Thanks! I’ve never fully grasped the concept and this really helps.
I’ve always heard it that observing was actually “measuring” and still wasn’t sure why that would impact anything but chalked it up to the quantum world being other-worldly.

- Comment on Valve released Windows drivers for Steam Deck OLED but no official support 5 months ago:
I was attempting to provide clarification between what they mean between the difference of “Official Support” and something like effective support.
Clearly this a step towards them more officially supporting Windows, but it stops short of “Official Support”.
- Comment on Valve released Windows drivers for Steam Deck OLED but no official support 5 months ago:
Valve’s support team isn’t going to assist with troubleshooting a borked Windows installation, so no.
- Comment on How is Lemmy better than Reddit? 6 months ago:
Agreed. Lots of reasonable opinions (not just my own) get downvoted here.
I’ve never been a fan of using downvotes as a disagree button and the issue seems even worse here than Reddit.

You should use a client that supports all of the text formatting. On Voyager the bot’s comment is smaller than most when collapsed (which it is by default).
