It derives from “to soak” or “to saturate” because they saturate the fabric with some resin (i think) to fill the voids between the strings, so it becomes (mostly) impermeable to water.

- Comment on Reminder to sign the Stop Killing Games petition UK and EU 11 months ago:
That is an unfortunate typo (3 vs 31). For reference, the official page of the EU initiative lists 31st july, the UK prtition page lists 14th july.
- Comment on Reminder to sign the Stop Killing Games petition UK and EU 11 months ago:
You switched the dates. EU deadline is july 31st, and got a massive influx of signatures over the last two days.

- Comment on I hate Samsung and their dumb software design choices, and this is one of them. Why do I need a SIM card to enable a hotspot whereas every other phone works without one? 1 year ago:
you can do “wifi sharing” which shares the phones wifi connection.
- Comment on Oh really? 1 year ago:
lots of styles like to open a chapter on the same side, so if the previous chapter is one page short, you pad it.

I am no expert, but I think it depends on how present those are in the training data. If you have barely any representation, I wouldn’t be surprised if the LLM thinks it is ome if the parent languages instead.

In this case, I believe there is a container right outside the door.
Regardless, you can’t just leave your trash wherever you want.
- Comment on people trashing the self-service section of the post office 1 year ago:
Yes, by self-service I mean an automated lockerbox. What you see in the picture is when people retrieve their parcel from the lockerbox, rip it open, and just leave the cardboard box there.

You can send and receive parcels at any time you like without them being stolen from your doorstep, and it helps to reduce the workload of the understaffed counter.

Indeed, but i fear neither the employees nor the police would be particularly motivated to do that.

cis just means your current gender identity is the same that was assigned to you at birth. there are cases where someone has XX chromosomes, but the body develops as male.

docx is just a zip of xml files. if you add some hooks to git, you could make it unzip it, commit the xml files, then when checking out rezip it into a docx automatically.

But the job description was looking for a “god killer”, not a “not-god killer”. Who could have expected the PC would be both?
- Comment on What really separates a PC from a server? Mainly the hardware, but I guess software too. 1 year ago:
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned so far i think: enterprise server hardware often has some form of remote management built in. This allows you to remotely start/stop your server, access the console, or even set up another OS without having to physically go to the server. You can add similar features to consumer-grade hardware, but they aren’t as advanced.
- Comment on How is my bedroom being heated? 1 year ago:
Perhaps adjacent/lower apartments are heated and are leaking enough heat to you.
