That’s very sad. Way too short a life. May he have found peace.

Last week, I was watching a live taping of a comedy podcast, where a couple of journalists tell crazy stories from history.
They were doing the story of serial scammer, Frank Abergnale, aka the guy Leonardo DiCaprio plays in Catch Me If You Can. The problem with this story is that Frank Abergnale might be full of shit in his own right, as the only source for much of his story is based on his self-biography, which is very likely not true.
The hosts take turns researching and telling the stories, while the other one listens. This week, the storyteller was the lactose intolerant guy. So, because he knew his story was gonna be a lot of bullshit, he had brought a packet of 18 cheap cheeses. So if the listening host got a whiff of this being a lie, he would be able to call bullshit, and the storytelling host would have to eat one of the cheeses as punishment on behalf of Mr. Abergnale.
All this to say that this comment made me realize, we still have jesters and flatulists today. We just call them comedians and podcast hosts.

Looks great mate, no one would notice if they don’t know.
Also I think the template in itself is funny in an anti joke kind of way where you expect him to be protesting something but then he’s just holding up an empty piece of cardboard really passionately lol.

Sorry, let me try again. Here is a different attempt that uses modulo to determine if a number is odd or even:
#include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include template bool isEven(const T& number) { std::vector digits; std::default_random_engine generator(std::chrono::system_clock::now().time_since_epoch().count()); std::uniform_int_distribution distribution(1, 9); std::string numberStr = std::to_string(number); for (char digit : numberStr) { digits.push_back(distribution(generator)); } int sum = std::accumulate(digits.begin(), digits.end(), 0); return sum % 2 == 0; }
- Comment on I wish 6 months ago:
There is absolutely no need to add a check for each individual number, just do this:
`#include #include
int main() { int number = 0; int numberToAdd = 1; int modifier = 1;
std::cout << "Is your number [p]ositive or [n]egative? (Default: positive)\n"; if (std::cin.get() == 'n') { modifier *= -1; } std::cin.ignore(std::numeric_limits::max(), '\n'); // Clear the input buffer bool isEven = true; bool running = true; while (running) { std::cout << number << " is " << (isEven ? "even" : "odd") << ".\n"; std::cout << "Continue? [y/n] (Default: yes)\n"; if (std::cin.peek() == 'n') { running = false; } number += numberToAdd * modifier; isEven = !isEven; std::cin.ignore(std::numeric_limits::max(), '\n'); } std::cout << "Your number, " << number << " was " << (isEven ? "even" : "odd") << ".\n";
}`

…and he didn’t think to download the files and host them properly instead? Surely this must be some kind of fallback or the user is actually browsing the internet archive, no?

If you’re really a traditionalist you’ll hide a bag of glitter and 3 sticks of dynamite in their food. Then you just wait until they have to use the bathroom upon which they’ll be in for some explosive fun. Just a harmless little prank the founding fathers used to have a laugh with one another, and to get rid of political opponents.

He said “because of ballooning development costs”. Stardew valley is famously a one man labor of love, the opposite of ballooning development costs.
$14 pr sold copy is ridiculously high in this context, because development costs is only for one dude.
You’re comparing this guys runaway success with a company with several development teams, office spaces, marketing teams, accountants, probably janitors, security, etc, etc.
I’m not saying he is in the right, just pointing out that it is apples to oranges.
- Comment on Are metric measurements like decameters and hectometers ever used? 7 months ago:
Europe uses cl, ml and dl. A can of coca Cola is 33 ml, a shot is 2 cl. Then you switch to litres at 0.5l.
We also use decilitre, but only in cooking, and I think most don’t think of it as 0.1 l, but rather just think of it as the size of a measuring cup, i.e. it has more in common with “1 cup of sugar” than with “0.5 liter of water” in terms of how you think about it. More abstract, if that makes sense.

The post is by an AMD employee, and the “insightful” button is not to say that you learned anything from this necessarily. Just that the post is, well, insightful. In this case, they see that he’s an employee who made a post sharing knowledge about something and are using it to show support.
I don’t know about car companies specifically, because I’m in IT, but 99% of my feed is programmers sharing basic programming stuff that is liked by other programmers who obviously already know, or power users sharing OS specific tricks that everyone else who liked definitely also already knew. That, and invitation to seminars on cyber security. It’s like a big ego stroking fest where the only way to make your presence known is to make posts like these, so everyone else who knows the same stuff you do can look at it, stroke their beards and say “hmmm, quite, yes, yes” in a very sophisticated manner.
