- Comment on Behold, "the whole story of Steam's economy in one picture": the top 1% of games earn 84.5% of estimated revenue, and most games barely make anything 18 hours ago:
Okay, but explain how consumer preferences are somehow Steam’s fault?
If you told me it was that way because Steam was boosting AAA games and suppressing indie titles, then okay, you have a valid reason to criticize Steam for that, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Haha, I’m playing through Mina the Hollower. I get to be a cute mouse girl, but live in a terrifying world full of monsters. Sorry Lionel, I changed my mind about repairing the spark generators. I’m just going to stay in town and hang out, if ya don’t mind.

- Comment on In Open Carry states, is it also allowed to openly carry bladed weapons like Swords? Bow and arrow? 1 week ago:
California has some of the weirdest rules. It was a felony to even possess nunchaku in the state until as recent as 2022. Meanwhile, you can own a big ass fucking machete and the law specifies that you must open carry it when you take it anywhere, but a balisong is still illegal to possess, concealed or otherwise.
I feel like a lot of the weapon laws were drafted as emotional responses to very specific events, both real and imagined, and nobody ever bothered to go back over the data after the fact to see if the bans actually did anything.

I used to argue about the interpretation of the prophecy with other fans for years before I finally came upon an epiphany one day.
It doesn’t matter what it means, because even the Jedi don’t know for sure.
Yoda even admits that the prophecy may have been misread.
So every interpretation of the prophecy from “Destruction of the Sith” to “Equal number of Jedi and Sith” (the “official” canon answer and the oft-cited fanon answer respectively) to the much less common “The prophecy isn’t real/is a lie” and “The prophecy is real but Anakin/Luke/Rey were not the Chosen One” are all equally valid, IMO.
The movie gave you room to believe whatever you want to believe. Certainly, George made it clear what the Jedi themselves think - that the prophecy is real, that it means complete destruction of the Sith forever, and that Anakin probably isn’t the chosen one but they were willing to leave the door open for that one…

I like to tell people that Sekiro is a rhythm game disguised as a Soulslike. It’s not bad, it’s just… different. Fully understand how it would be a turn-off for many.
- Comment on Three developers' different philosophies on difficulty for their games 3 weeks ago:
I think that is what Miyazaki’s philosophy is. Not everybody needs to be a parry god, nor do you need to defeat the boss naked with a broken sword in order for it to “count”. The souls games and their contemporaries are as difficult as you want to make them. If a boss is too hard, come back when you are overleveled and stomp it. Or use some cheesy build to trivialize it. That’s what he means by “fac[ing] that challenge” and “overcom[ing] it in some way that suits them as a player”.
- Comment on Modern Monetary Theory: Musk Edition 3 weeks ago:
We do print money and we have steady inflation, but inflation is still inflation.
A lot of people seem to be clinging onto the wrong concept here. Nobody is arguing against the reality that the government can print money to pay it’s own debts or solve an economic crisis, because they obviously do it all the time and sometimes the damage done from the inflationary reaction caused by printing more money is significantly preferable to what the alternative could have been (severe recession, economic collapse, etc.).
The point I am trying to make is that Elon is making a specific claim that printing money has a deflationary effect, which I have personally never seen evidence of, no economist has ever seriously theorized, and flies in the fact of common sense and human nature.
- Comment on Modern Monetary Theory: Musk Edition 3 weeks ago:
Ok Elon, could you point to just one historical example of a government printing money and a deflationary trend happening as a result? Just one example should be easy to come up with if he’s so confident that printing money will not cause inflation, but rather deflation.

Men and women are playing fundamentally different games when on the dating apps.
Even unattractive women can go from clearing out their inbox to having 30 or 40 likes/swipes in a couple of hours, with basically no effort required on their part. If they are conventionally attractive, that number goes way up. Eventually, they’ll run dry of the pool and it will slow down significantly, but there will always be more men cycling in over time. It’s easy and effortless, but unfortunately it’s not all rosy for the gals. There’s a serious lack of quality in the hordes of horny men. If your objective was just to hook up with someone, you could easily reel in the most handsome guy who swiped on your profile, but if you want someone who is husband/partner material, you have to separate the wheat from the chaff, and that’s hard to do when opening the app sometimes feels like a chore, even if it gives you a confidence/ego boost.
For men, on the other hand, it’s mostly a numbers game. Sure, you actually have to try when you do match with someone, you skim their profile and look for something to hook onto and cold open hoping that they notice and appreciate that you took the time to read about them rather than just belting out “ey bby u want sum fuk?”. But you can’t get too attached to any one potential match - not getting a response or getting ghosted is quite common. Attractive men do not have it much easier, since there’s so much noise in the system that unless you are that person’s type, or an absolute unicorn, you still have to distinguish yourself through conversation and prove you are not a weirdo.
I agree with you though, paying to get your profile boosted, while obviously a good business tactic from the app devs, feels wrong and scummy. When I did it, I rationalized that I was simply paying for the service and it was not just me paying to be matched up with someone, or presenting a badge on my profile that says “I have enough expendable income to pay to be noticed”.
I think we lost something when courtship shifted from real-life engagements to online spaces. Something fundamental to the chemistry of attraction and romance.
- Comment on Non-stick pans? 5 weeks ago:
I like T-Fal brand nonstick pans. I have no idea what they use to get the nonstick coating but I have had my set for years and they haven’t peeled like all the rest of my Teflon garbage has.
That being given said, a good old reliable stainless steel pan is the best backup if you don’t want to deal with chemical coatings. You need slow heat and generous oiling and it will be about as nonstick as you can get it.
I like cast iron but I find they can easily get way too hot, so I reserve those pans for searing meats.

And yet, Republicans gave Biden shit about being senile for his entire term for making dumb mistakes like that, calling for him to be impeached over his declining mental health.
We’re just taking every opportunity to point out the hypocrisy. Obviously no Republican would ever break rank to impeach Trump even if he really were senile.

- Comment on Do you think that Trump is the most hated U.S. president? 1 month ago:
No argument here. He’s absolutely my number one most hated for that reason and many more. But it would be hypocritical of me to say that Trump is the only one guilty of bad behavior. He’s simply the first to be so publicly unapologetic about it.
- Comment on Do you think that Trump is the most hated U.S. president? 1 month ago:
You can pick any president in history and find skeletons in their closets, and many have committed atrocities that far exceed any one thing that Trump has done, but Trump is actively dismantling the republic before our eyes and he will be remembered as in incompetent buffoon and his rise to power and his contributions to the end of American global hegemony will be studied by sociologists, historians and political scientists for ages to come.
And in 100 years time, when they teach about this period of time in schools, all the kids will be able to think is “How could anybody just let that happen?”, yeah, it makes me irrationally upset about being lumped in with the people who abide by this farcical nonsense, or worse, with those who are actively participating in knowingly doing as much harm as possible.
To say I hate him is an understatement. I’m going to frame his obituary.

They do, every once in a rare while, actually make a really bold but good decision. It’s always framed as “we’re doing [insert good thing] to own the libs!” And them they get all surprised when we’re not angry about it. And then they quietly yank the bill or get Trump or some republican governor to veto it or something so they aren’t embarrassed thay they actually passed bipartisan popular legislation.

They always release to consoles first, but I don’t mind. Let the console players beta test all the imbalanced multi-player shit and then we’ll get the patched version with all of the jank fixed in the PC release down the line. A better experience for more patient gamers.
