- Comment on If someone was shrunk down to the size of an ant would they be able to make a little ant sized campfire with the same principles? Does it scale like that? 1 day ago:
Fire is a thermodynamics problem, so it relates to area and volume, not gravity.
Gravity does impact creature size, however. A lower-gravity environment supports larger creatures, higher forces creatures to go smaller. Thought is a chemical process though, so that would have a minimum size as well.
- Comment on Xbox testing disc-to-digital feature to digitize game collections 1 week ago:
Sounds to me like this is them angling for a way to advertise backwards compatibility without a disk drive. Put a disk that hasn’t been “digitized” to an account in your current console, your account now has a license for the digital version. Get new console without disk drive, game is available to download as if you’d bought it digitally to start with.

Additionally, the ‘fix’ for education being too expensive was to make it so anyone could get government-backed loans for tuition. This has led to schools being able to spike tuition since to an 18-year-old there’s no difference between a $20k loan and an $80k loan.

I went to work with my sister one time when she worked overnights at a call center. I ended up building a bunch of Ikea storage units. It was fun.

We know there are. There’s a quest in CP2077 involving a guy who’s system catches fire.
He’s voiced by a streamer my wife likes. She had no idea he was in the game and loved the absurdity of that quest.

At least one of the modern Ghost Recon games has motorcycles.

This doesn’t have the pretentious stuff of Witness.
It’s a sokoban game, so it’s a grid-based puzzler about moving stuff around to get to an exit. It has a bunch of characters, each with distinct mechanics. It gets really interesting when you have multiple characters in play at once, requiring you to mix their abilities.
So far, it looks to be one of the best of that genre, though it’s hard to tell how it will be later in the game.

This article leaves out Order of the Sinking Star, a sokoban-style puzzler from the Braid/Witness designer.
- Comment on Misaligned cabinet in apple wwdc 4 weeks ago:
These are often two components stacked. There’s a cabinet box and a shelf unit. They may not have attached them if it’s a temporary backdrop just for this video. It’s also possible that the shelf is bolted to the wall, allowing the cabinet to slide underneath it.

The Editor-in-Chief of the American Diabetes Association’s flagship journal was ejected and banned from the Association’s conference for handling out copies of an article from their journal. The Association blames security demands made by the Trump administration.
- Comment on What’s your favorite video game that most people didn’t like ?? 5 weeks ago:
Underneath the silliness, SR4 had a good story and great performances. I remember tearing up a bit during the car segment of the final mission.
It is one of the few open-world sidequestapaloozas I have ever beaten because the story and insanity kept me coming back.

You should either include something to wear it to or indicate that future gifts may go that direction. Dressing up to go to a show, symphony, etc can be a lot of fun and that resolves the “but I have nowhere to wear it” objection she would likely have.

Veritasium is awful. So much misinformation, holier-than-though attitude, and disguised advertising. They are just pre-AI slop: Stuff that sounds correct presented in a convincing way.

They all focus on letting anyone run fast, which just makes them feel like autopilot.
Haste lets you run fast and actually gives the player control. It’s what a 3D Sonic should be.
