  In a way “kinda weird” is still normal. People in real life are kinda weird, we have different things we like, not just missionary position for the purpose of procreation. There’s collars and vegetables used in non-culinary ways, toe-sucking and fantasies and handcuffs, etc. Normal people often do kinda weird stuff.

  I agree that his language wasn’t great. The appropriate language should have been to either not say anything or at least also criticize Trumps generally corrupt ways. It sounds to me similar to praising the strict animal welfare laws in Germany under the Nazis. I am all for banning vivisection and making animal cruelty illegal. That was a good thing, done by horrible people. If I say those laws were good, it doesn’t mean I’m a Nazi. But still, it wouldn’t look good.

  She is known for trying to break up monopolies in tech, which is why people were surprised when she was selected by Trump who has tech giant friends. That’s what the proton ceo was praising, Gail Slater being picked. She didn’t last long, presumably because she indeed tried to break up big tech. He was also saying that the Democrats had done very little when they had the chance, because some Democrats are on the side of big tech. This was the controversy, and soon people called proton fascist and what not, and I don’t think it’s entirely fair.

  I’ve had those, they’re called Ayam Cemani, it’s a special breed. They liked corn a lot for some reason. Every morning I would let them out and they followed me around until they got corn.

  I’ve done this with my girlfriend. It’s actually quite difficult to find the right angle with our heads to make contact, slightly tilted and slightly from the side. I’ve also made contact with my eye on her nipple, way easier. Technically, I don’t recommend doing either, like, we should be careful with our eyes, but… yes.

  There are many science articles that I personally do not understand, most of them in fact. But I trust that as long as the methodology and findings can be studied, people who are specialized in that area will point out mistakes and try to disprove and improve each other. We don’t talk about phlogiston anymore, because science did its thing. I see free software in a similar way. As long as the source is free to study, and people are interested in finding errors, those errors can be fixed. Trusting software becomes more about trusting a community. It’s not perfect, but what is.

  In the TV-show, no, it was rushed and didn’t make a lot of sense. In the books, I guess we will never know, but the foundation is there all the way back to “Skahaz, I have changed my mind. Question the man sharply.” etc.

  I believe this was the point of Daenerys Targaryen, I think GRRM wanted to see at what point we would have to change our minds about her being good and righteous. There are many examples of redemption arcs, but she was the opposite.

  I understand needing reassurance sometimes, but constant self-deprecation can be exhausting. You try to show someone you love them and nothing works, like a black hole sucking in all your efforts. And little by little it wears you down until you do want to date someone else, but it’s not about being pretty, it’s about peace of mind.

  I went up an escalator with my ex girlfriend a few days ago, and when we came to the top, for some reason, I picked her up and carried her over that part. But then I started wondering, why did I do that? And she just said “ok you can put me down now.”

  While I agree, I also think we have a responsibility to use language as a tool to be fair and precise. How should we react when for example far-right people start using the word “groomer” about LGBTQ people in general? Should we push back, or nod and say “interesting, this usage is catching on I guess”?
