That’s the median disposable income, which is significantly lower than the gross income used and misrepresented in this study.

The threshold for “rich” here seems extremely low. £45K household income? Two people on £23K exceed that.

Humans especially. I wouldn’t have to go to work if the roads all vanished

The market for a setup like that would be pretty small. The average person just has a craptop that isn’t switched on most of the time. Many don’t even bother with that.

I went on 4chan back in 2004. I was 14 and I remember thinking I found some super cool secret website full of badasses.
I got bored after a few weeks. I returned when I was 18 and realised it was full of socially mal-adjusted teens pretending to be super cool badasses, with a few pedophiles mixed in for good measure.
- Comment on Five years from launch the PS5 is a roaring success, so why doesn't it feel like it? [Eurogamer] 1 week ago:
The main reason why I got one was because my PS4 was on its last legs after the hammering it got during 8 months of covid lockdown and furlough, and the whole console was cheaper than a new graphics card for my PC (+the other upgrades it needed to accommodate it).
The new controller is epic and that astrobot demo game really showcased its capabilities, but no other games have used it, even other exclusives like god of war. Wasted opportunity.

And honestly us Brits are pretty fucking lazy when it comes to walking compared to a lot of Europe too

Something I noticed when visiting the US. I went to one of their Wendy’s to try it out, and ordered a small chicken burger. It was very dry and bland, not really that good, yet I looked up the nutritional info and apparently this small burger alone was over 1200kcals??
I’m fairly sure it was the bun that did that as I doubt they raise some kind of super chicken with an energy density similar to petrol.
Anyway, surprise surprise I ended up with heartburn afterwards.

We’ll see what comes out because firing people for trying to form a union is extremely illegal here and could lead to every fired employee getting a year’s pay in one go

The US is already sanctioning itself through tariffs, and the rest of the crap is domestic problems.

This is true. Black and White might have been awkward and buggy but it pioneered a whole sub-genre.

On a similar theme, “Thank goodness you’re here!” Had me creasing at times. Especially at the lawn mowing bit.

About once a month on a Saturday afternoon they spend an hour or two holding up protest signs before going home for a self-congratulatory wank.
- Comment on Cardiff is set to become the first city in the UK to introduce higher parking charges for SUVs 4 weeks ago:
Yes but I’d say only for new cars, seems a bit unfair to people who bought their cars a couple of years before the charge is introduced. Do they really want to pressure those people to go and buy another car? (more environmentally damaging than keeping what they have).

- Comment on Why supermarket prices really became sky high in the UK 4 weeks ago:
Probably been sat in storage too long. Apples are sold all year round but they are only harvested once per year. And don’t think that in season you’ll be getting fresh ones, they’ll be straight into storage while you eat the year old stock.
