It’s sucks. I use them, very handy. I think they should replace the glass with a metal door and use LED to indicate whether the balls are there nor not.

I see. Well… I guess I’ve had enough beating back then to just take it easy now!
- Comment on Single player games 1 week ago:
Of course, it really depends on the game. For example, I preferred playing Borderlands 3 on normal mode because I enjoyed the mayhem, whereas I played the Horizon series on easy difficulty because the story was engaging and the world atmosphere was awesome.
So it really depends. Often, if a game is not an FPS and is really story-driven, I’ll play it on easy mode to enjoy the story. The more full and deep the game’s story is, the more likely I am to play it on easy mode to fully enjoy it after a stressful day.

I’m in my early 40s. Back then, I used to play Quake 3, UT and Tribes 2 competitively. Not anymore. Life is stressful enough, and I don’t want to add to that by playing competitively. I want to relax by playing story-based games. I also play a lot of games on easy mode so that I can truly enjoy the story.

Eh… What… Claude didn’t exist 10 years ago. This is one of the reasons managers hate HR, they don’t beep so can’t hire the talents they need.

I’m in my early 40s, and I’ve found that I enjoy story-based games played on an easy setting more. Life is stressful enough nowadays, so I don’t need the added stress of competitive gaming.
For me, it’s a different kind of enjoyment. Now, I’d rather let my mind wander through a story-based game than frag anything that moves.
- Comment on GTA 6 Price Finally Confirmed, Features a 'Single-Player Experience' at Launch 2 weeks ago:
You know the industry has gone downhill when they have to reiterate that it includes a “single-player experience” at launch.
I always thought Grand Theft Auto VI would have a single-player mode, but I guess some people focus more on multiplayer.

I guess it’s about AI being shaved down throat for financial reasons. I use AI as I perceive it as a tool among other tools, but I also I switched to Linux because I don’t want AI to be shoved down my throat.
- Comment on Valve’s Steam Controller stock shortage will last until next year after fans massively exceeded expectations 2 weeks ago:
The final window on display for the Steam Controller is simply marked “2027” with no specific release period for the device. Valve explains that it has “no plans to stop making” the controller, but the current demand has massively exceeded their internal estimations.
I really wonder if their estimates have taken into account scalpers and how to stop them.

Nah. It’s all relative. If everything goes up accordingly, then steamdeck will remain a good buy.

Here’s their answer as to why:
Our goal of shipping all three products in the first half of the year has not changed. But we have work to do to land on concrete pricing and launch dates that we can confidently announce, being mindful of how quickly the circumstances around both of those things can change.

That too!

Think about it this way, people. Yes, it may be more expensive than a PlayStation. However, Steam offers numerous deals several times a year, so it will be worth the investment. In the long run, owning a Steam Machine or PC will pay for itself.
Unfortunately, due to the craze of AI server farms, PC parts are becoming more expensive. For example, the price of RAM has doubled, and analysts say that SSDs will suffer the same fate.

*sigh*... This generation of games will all suck because of Unreal Engine 5. I'm a patient gamer, I have plenty of unplayed games on my Steam library. I will not upgrade my video card because of this horrendous game engine.
- Comment on Why is Lemmy much better with telling a user why they were banned? 9 months ago:
Think of Reddit as Cyberpunk or Mirror's Edge: a world controlled by corporations instead of governments. A corporation only seeks its own interests and those of its shareholders. In that world, you're nothing. There's no transparency, and you don't have any rights.
Lemmy instances are run by the community and funded by donations. As such, the interests of the group as a whole prevail; they are not the interests of shareholders. To maintain cohesion, transparency is necessary, hence the modlog. Without transparency, cohesion and community cannot be maintained.
Reddit and Lemmy are two completely different worlds.

We cannot forget that 3dfx went under when they bought STB to manufacture their own video cards instead of letting their board partners do it.

3dfx had market dominance in 90s but then basically committed suicide.
Very true. They committed suicide when they bought STB so that they could manufacture their own video cards. They didn't just focus on chip R&D they needed to manufacture and market their own video cards instead of letting board partners do it.
