yea. it might be a good time to buy ‘older’ hardware, but ‘refurbs’ that are blessed by microsoft (gen 8+) are already higher in price than they should be.

- Comment on does the quality of downloaded youtube video increase after being downloaded? 3 days ago:
it’s not happening ‘after’. ytdlp is likely downloading a higher quality file than what the browser or app is receiving for streaming.
- Comment on Can you please help me pick a gaming desktop for my son that can run Monster Hunter Wilds? 3 days ago:
either one meets or exceeds the requirements you posted for the game.
note that if you’re able to shop in person at microcenter, many more options are available, including their own brand of prebuilts (powerspec) and custom-builds assembled in-store.

the only grocery around me that had one took it out when they quit selling coffee that way, a few months into covid.

i have a trial to cancel soon. betcha it’s still faster and easier to ask ddg ‘how to cancel prime’ than it is to find it solely via clicks on azn’s own site.
- Comment on Microsoft doing shady Microsoft stuff again 1 week ago:
many of those chrome ‘users’ got there after clicking on one of google’s many somewhat misleading ‘advertisements’ or ‘notices’ or ‘warnings’
- Comment on Do all American stores have greeters? 1 week ago:
‘greeters’ are also part of security or ‘loss prevention’, even the old guy who can’t stand-up during his shift and needs to sit on a stool at his post.
- Comment on We're all going home early today 1 week ago:
a bag of popcorn set to 30 minutes instead of 3 might be all it takes and is an ‘innocent’ mistake anyone could make.

we would all be ‘shareholders’ of public services for public good.
- Comment on Fall of Western civilization 4 weeks ago:
we used to have mac tonight at a piano, muzak, black ceiling tiles and club lighting. now it’s the same remodeled mckitchen as everywhere else, stuffing delivery orders into bags and letting the in-person experience go to shit.

anyone in, remotely affiliated with, or supporting this administration, is “endangering every american’s health”… and well, everyone else and the planet, too…
- Comment on advertising and headers take up 50% of screen space 5 weeks ago:
on the linked page, i get a giant header image and headline, followed by the article text (which accounts for just 15% of the vertical space on my 16:10 screen).
when i scroll as you have, there’s no elements glued to the top getting in the way.

video chatting with a screen visible to the driver? fk no. also his setup and use of it violates cvc 27602.
- Comment on Charging to tour rental properties... 1 month ago:
there’s probably a commission system built-in to pay the value of a month’s rent or something to the ‘agent’ when you sign a lease. which means, of course, they’re financially motivated to steer you to better paying properties (for them), not better units or locations for you.
- Comment on Microsoft yanks the plug on Windows 11 SE, giving school and college IT techs a little over a year to find a suitable replacement 1 month ago:
dumping this one that specifically limited exposure to the trash bits of windows and instead launch a new variant for gaming handhelds that, while ‘optimized’ and limited in the crud that runs, will most definitely be focused on driving gamers to game pass subs and store sales.
- Comment on Citing “market conditions,” Nintendo hikes prices of original Switch consoles 1 month ago:
they priced the new one too high, so now they’re raising the old one up so people (especially newcomers to the platform) will think it’s not so bad?

- Comment on What's the REAL minimum power supply needed for a RTX 5060 Ti? 2 months ago:
Depends on your CPU
absolutely. some cpu can draw more than the 180 watts of a 5060ti, even without actual ‘overclocking’, all by themselves when boosting their own clock (such as intel’s “turbo power”). even a ‘65 watt’ ultra 7 265 can get up to that.
- Comment on Anon does some online shopping 2 months ago:
i always look for the ‘guest’ checkout option. some merchants have it, and i’ll choose them over somewhere like azn if the price is reasonably close.
- Comment on Breaking: Netflix has made another minor change for their subscribers. 2 months ago:
sub for a month with a prepaid gift card (so no potential issues cancelling). binge for a week, run out of stuff to watch, the rest of the sub goes unused and wasted. been down that road once every year or two here.
