Yeah, the whole experience is a relatively traumatic one, the idea of bringing metal implements to bear probably means the alternative is worse, but part of expertise is in weighing options and risks.
As an aside, I believe Sylvester Stallone’s speech is due to nerve damage from a forceps incident at birth.

Even their necks are wild.
The writer and ex-doctor Adam Kay wrote in his book “This is Going to Hurt”, about his time in the maternity ward of an NHS hospital in the 2000s, that he would find it funny, visiting friends and their new kids and his friends reminding him to support the neck and stuff, when in the past he has had forceps around the head of a child and has leaned back with his full weight trying to assist in the removal of a child trapped in the birth canal, and both baby and mother coming out of it completely fine.

As a brit, I imagine it is to conjure up the idea of the village fair. Where often times you’ll have cake and vegetable judging taking place in tents about the place.

You can buy the GTA3 Trilogy still on the Rockstar website. I dunno if its missing music from the original release like I heard several years ago, but im playing through old San Andreas now. You just can’t get it on steam.

Judging by the Arthur Morgan technique, you hold it by the two hind legs, in one hand, and just grab four fingers-worth of it’s arsehole and yank violently down towards the head.

The best guess would be Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland next.
Or at least I would hope. - Comment on ‘It beggars belief’: MoD sources warn Palantir’s role at heart of government is threat to UK’s security 2 months ago:
Would certainly give the government a reason to look for an out, if they ever got rid of Starmer.

I’d say it would be a MARPOP violation, but I dunno if military vessels have exceptions or something wild like that.

I remember one holiday with my mum and dad in a cottage in the hills. They had a DVD player and dvds on the shelf in the little living room We put Gone Girl on because it was relatively recent and I’d heard of it, and about 10 minutes in my dad was like “oh wait, I’ve read this book…it’s shite.”
I insisted we watch the whole thing because I cant stand watching a bit of something I find I dont like, voice my opinion on it, and then get told that if I didn’t watch 'til the end, then how can I know?
Anyway, he was correct.

Yeah, sorry. Its difference in temperature. I got delta-T in my head and blinkered in on either making a ‘triangle’ to denote delta or just write it out, instead of just saying temperature difference.
Apologies.

I know its memes, but the astronaut tim peake discussed the space suits on No Such Thing As A Fish where he said that the whole get-up is like 16+ layers thick, and the only heating inside is for your fingertips, so you dont lose fine motor function. He said you can be sitting working on a panel outside the station, with one hand facing the sun and one hand facing the shade, and the delta-T of your two hands could be something like 500°C.
Maaaaadness! (It’s been a while since I listened to this episode, my memory of numbers could be skewed.)

This is a whole sub-genre in British tabloids. Absolute melts pointing at things with a sad or annoyed face.
Cannot for the life of me remember the collective term for them.
