- Comment on Why does apartment management expect you to call the police over every tenant incident? 1 day ago:
Can you explain what’s unreasonable about that? External noise may be outside of their control but that doesnt mean they don’t bear some responsibility to ensure that residents have peace and quiet in the place they’re being charged to live. In that scenario, you would typically have the right to break your lease and move out without penalty. With internal noise, they have the responsibility to penalize the noisemaker with fines or eviction.
- Comment on Why does apartment management expect you to call the police over every tenant incident? 1 day ago:
I’d be willing to bet that nearly 100% of apartment leases have some language in them about noise meaning apartment managers absolutely do have the power to enforce these limits. Even HOAs, where you buy the property with your own money can enforce their own rules because you agreed to that when you signed the paperwork.
- Comment on How do you think a socialist President would win the 2028 election? Would they use the exact methods used by Zohran Mamdani which earned him the office of Mayor of NYC? 1 week ago:
Why do you think a Mr. Rogers type person would be the ideal choice? That just leads to “we need to forgive and put this all behind us” type responses which drives even more unaccountability, more inaction, and leads to more problems. I think a Mr. Rogers type is the exact opposite of what we need in response to Trump.

Yeah thats just a seal to keep the poop in but not what holds it down to the floor (mostly).
- Comment on Why in hospitals, is 'gun shot wound' appreciated as "GSW"- 1 week ago:
Because we must pay homage to mister World Wide himself, Pitbull, as we browse the internet.
- Comment on Tried to carefully install the faucet immediately after gluing and caulking the sink 1 week ago:
I see what you mean now.
Even still, our toilets in the US are bolted to the floor and only sealed with caulking along the floor to keep water from pooling underneath and rotting the floor. With our American diets, we rely on the structural rigidity of metal bolts to keep things in place during our massive dumps
- Comment on Tried to carefully install the faucet immediately after gluing and caulking the sink 1 week ago:
Toilet seat got glued in as well.
I’ve gotta see a picture of this too. I’ve never seen a toilet seat that wasn’t bolted to the toilet.
- Comment on Is "depress" ever used in this context? 2 weeks ago:
Also many car manuals tell you to depress the brake to start the vehicle.
- Comment on "Refrigerate after opening and store in the refrigerator door." Why the door for this mayo? 2 weeks ago:
Our brand new GE fridge is like this. The temperature is set to 41F and it still causes some things to freeze on the shelves.

Lmao was your previous comment genuine? I assumed it was some top tier sarcasm/wordplay
- Comment on How come hypothetically if I make meth in my home. Knowing full well it could explode and take out my neighbors houses, why am I not charged with attempted murder? 4 weeks ago:
Seems like you answered your own question.
We had a week long power outage after a winter ice storm a few years ago and would have been screwed without our gas water heater and fireplace, so I’m a big fan of having both gas and electric.
- Comment on Video Game Physical Software and Hardware Sales Just Had the Worst November in the U.S. Since 1995 - IGN 4 weeks ago:
Those are all physical devices though. I agree platform exclusives aren’t good for anyone but the companies but it does seem like most are moving away from that model with these newer generation consoles.
- Comment on Video Game Physical Software and Hardware Sales Just Had the Worst November in the U.S. Since 1995 - IGN 4 weeks ago:
I don’t think its necessarily the prices that are the issue but what you’re getting for it. Games have historically not kept up with inflation and still cost less than what we were paying for SNES carts in the 90s, but now they’re the 15th sequel of some franchise and are only half finished so there isn’t much draw for customers.
- Comment on The show I was watching went from "Free" to "Paid" *while I was watching it* 5 weeks ago:
It was still the same back then, it was just done via network TV channels instead of streaming channels.
- Comment on The show I was watching went from "Free" to "Paid" *while I was watching it* 5 weeks ago:
Because music streaming services compete (for the most part) based on experience and features not content. This happened after the market plummeted for music sales. TV and movies are still in the stage where everyone is competing with content by having exclusives while their services suck dick with few features, horrible UX, and ads. Im sure at some point they’ll go the route of music and games where youre not forced to sign up to a specific service to see a specific show, but who knows when that’ll happen.

Roadside breath tests arent admissible in court because they aren’t certified testing devices. Only the one at the station with a record of maintenance is admissible.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
Field sobriety tests are complete pseudoscience and only exist to gain evidence against you not to prove you’re sober. You should never consent to them and if an officer asks you to take one you’re already going to jail regardless.

- Comment on What's the name of this 80s song sang by a solo female singer? I only remember her saying "nothing really maaaa-tters" or "nothing truly maaaatt-ers". Has a vibe like I Feel For You by Chaka Kahn 2 months ago:
Oh good, this was the song I kept playing in my head while reading OPs description and now I can stop racking my brain trying to figure out what it was.
- Comment on How do i get my nails to stop stinking faster 2 months ago:
Don’t they have UV nail polish and could that contain different chemicals that dont stink as badly? I’m out of my element here.
- Comment on Why would a company force you to use a rental car instead of your own for a drive to the office/Christmas party? 2 months ago:
In the US they only reimburse around $0.50/mile (last I knew from several years ago) so it’d have to be a killer deal to be cheaper for rentals than reimbursement. OP did reference kilometers, but I imagine the reimbursement rate is similar wherever you are.

I just wish their merch were as sexy as Star Wars merch so that fans could better show their appreciation for the franchise. Currently everything is still quite “nerdy” while “normies” walk around happily in Star Wars t-shirts
- Comment on Star Trek Collectibles Roundup — TOS Toys Return, Academy Boots, 23rd Century Adventures, and EXO-6 Enters the Kelvin Timeline 2 months ago:
How about those rumors of a LEGO Enterprise??? Nobody wants action figures anymore, and I can’t see the average person wanting Starfleet Academy cosplay attire. Why has Star Trek historically had the absolute worst merchandise available?
- Comment on Does Coke Zero taste different in the UK vs. the USA? 2 months ago:
They’re sweeter because they use high fructose corn syrup where as other places like Mexico still use cane sugar. To get a good Coke in the US, you have to go to a Mexican market or taco truck and get it in a glass bottle. We have a gluttony of corn here so it gets forced into everything from plastic to gasoline to soda.
- Comment on Is there any way of trying Battlefield 6 without buying it or paying £17 for a 1 month EA Play Pro subscription? 3 months ago:
You want to host a PvP game server but not if it requires an internet connection? Who would you be playing against without an internet connection?

Good point. This makes the entire rest of Lemmy the “shitter thoughts” umbrella community as thats where everyone is posting and commenting from.
