I figured I want some in doing that, but anyone I’ve told about it seemed to think I was nuts. My original inspiration for it was a piece of advice for jet lag- to stay up until it is a good bedtime for your destination, even if you are tired.

Lol this is the face my therapist made when I mentioned that my natural sleep cycle (circadian rhythm?) doesn’t quite align with 24 hour days and drifts over time, so I occasionally I do what I call a “sleep leap day” where I pull an all-nighter and continue through the next day to ‘reset’ it.

Somebody who is responsible for a kid. It’s a broader term than parent that includes people who have a different relationship but are ultimately raising the kid, like aunts/uncles, grandparents, foster parents, or anyone else who might be responsible for the kid.

Generally speaking, there is a little negotiation you can do around salary and benefits when/if you reach that point in an interview. That said, many companies will give you an offer and you can either take it or leave it. Showing up with a ‘package’ offering like this will get you laughed out of the room.

I’ve been to known to do this. When I was on a stimulant for ADHD, I would get ravenously hungry whenever it wore off, which was often late in the evening.
That doesn’t really explain why it’s such a trope, but my theory is that you’re right about it being a US thing. It is common for us to eat dinner/supper early (like 5-7 pm) relative to some parts of Europe, which means that there’s more time until breakfast and therefore we’re more likely to get hungry late in the evening.

This one of the reasons that most of the recipes I try are one pot/pan recipes, there’s way less to clean up. I enjoy cooking but have executive dysfunction issues and will leave all those dishes in the sink for weeks on end.

They’re misrepresenting what they said. The actual comment was an islamophobic tirade on a post about someone getting fired after asking for a break so they could pray in private. After getting pissed off about the audacity of that person to ask for a break to pray, they said
Fuck muslims with a necrotic pork penis.
which is probably why they got banned.

Coming out of grad school in 2024, I had to submit ~300 applications to get 4 interviews and 2 offers for engineering roles. From what I hear, it’s gotten even worse since then- companies are posting fake positions to look busy even in the middle of hiring freezes and ai bullshit has infected the recruiting process too.

Call screening is actually one of the reasons I’ve been thinking about going back to a Pixel, I had that on my Pixel 5 and Fold.
Fortunately, the Google messages app (default for Android) does a half decent job of filtering spam texts for me. I go through the filter every couple days and just report them to my provider en masse.
