But then the fact that she can’t hold it in any longer and blurting it out literally as they’re about to get away would absolutely be in character for her! This woman is nothing but hubris!

Usually, the drama around here is the .ml and .hexbear admins being high on some tyrannical echo chamber logic and banning people for suggesting even slightly that China’s not perfect. And that’s pretty distant from .world and sh.itjustworks, and everywhere else. About as notable as your neighbor a couple blocks over getting into beef with the neighbors’ kids. Background noise at best, and barely relevant.
This is new, unusual, and definitely a one-time deal. Dude was a conservative who secretly made a tremendous blocklist of most of the people here who’d ever said anything critical of conservatism, and plugged it into the front-end app he managed without telling anyone. Literally was secretly censoring a massive chunk of the userbase. His secret blocklist got published, and those of us who managed to get on it have been patting each other on the back because we made a Nazi mad.
And now he’s throwing a big old tantrum because he got caught.

The “as well as public health” bit is the important one.
Humans are a social species. Most human infectious diseases require social contact in order to spread.
We lived through 2020. I think that fucking dead deer is unethical, for the same reason that not getting vaccinated and not quarantining is unethical. It is a hazard to yourself AND others.
- Comment on Philosophy has peaked. Checkmate atheists 2 weeks ago:
(sigh) I can’t believe I have to say this twice on the same site.
Fucking a dead deer is just as immoral and dangerous as fucking a live one. Their bodies will still be host to a variety of potentially dangerous infectious diseases that may cross the species divide and become human-transmissible. This is a threat to your own health as well as public health.
For the love of any god that still might care, do not fuck roadkill. We do NOT need another HIV.

I think this is their reference to a specific manifestation of OCD known as Scrupulosity, where the individual in question is obsessed with piety to the point where it becomes detrimental to their ability to function.
- Comment on Why are there so many more mtf trans vs ftm trans people?? 4 weeks ago:
Visibility paradox. Believe it or not, it’s about 50/50. Trans women are just more visible than trans men, and because of this, more likely to vocally reach out for help.
It’s a reflection of patriarchy, unfortunately.
- Comment on Single player games 4 weeks ago:
I thoroughly enjoy single players games. I like being able to explore the world at my own pace, make my own decisions, and draw my own conclusions. It’s like reading a book, if turning the pages involved solving puzzles and beating monsters. Relaxing, if you’re good, challenging if you’re not.
Cooperative games are a close second. I like PvE, it means that I get to help my friends. The objective isn’t rank and competition, it’s winning together. It’s why I like Starbound, Minecraft, and D&D.
Genuinely? I despise PvP. It’s the trash talk and the aggressively competitive assholes who have nothing to do with their time. I hate dealing with people who like to hurt strangers by humiliating them. Who the hell enjoys that?
- Comment on What games meet this criteria? 4 weeks ago:
Pathfinder and D&D run on a telephone and a handful of dice. And the zombies are optional.
Real talk, though, I’d have to second the recommendation for Starbound. It has tons and tons of mods, and it runs just fine on Linux.

Trans person here. It depends on which hormone therapy you’re taking.
Testosterone has a tendency to override feminizing hormones, so people who are on FtM HRT often only need to take testosterone and submit annual blood panels. But since testosterone is literally toxic in high quantities, and can cause heart palpitations, it needs to be administered carefully. Transmasc folks either go into a clinic to have it administered, or in some places they’re trained on how to safely self-administer.
If you’re transfemme, you have to take a cocktail of medications, since feminizing hormones have a slightly more complex response than just T. MtF people need antiandrogens, progestogens, and estrogen for their therapy. Estrogen is the real heavy lifter for most of this, but progesterone is important for things like growing tits.
Of course, not everyone can go on HRT, which is why transmedicalism (the idea that you’re only valid as a trans person if you’re pursuing medical transition like HRT and surgery) is frowned upon in most corners of the queer community. Some people have serious endocrine or cardiovascular illnesses that make HRT dangerous. Other people, especially in countries where being queer carries the death penalty, already are at risk for voicing their thoughts and feelings. They’re exactly as trans as I am, whether or no they’re on HRT.

V Rising. It’s basically goth Terraria. You’re playing as a vampire who just came out of a thousand-year hibernation, and your whole goal is to find and kill Dracula. You start by bullying skeletons with your bare hands to harvest their bones, and go all the way to building an enormous automated castle that can process thousands of units of raw materials.

Forgive me for asking, but… how?? The LD50 for cannabis is 980 mg/kg. For an adult weighing 180 lbs / 81 kgs, that would require nearly 1.62 kg of straight THC to the veins.
I mean, that’s the LD50 for THC. But for it to actually change your blood acidity, you must have had to take an insane amount. Was it an industrial exposure?

I’d like it better if its entire existence couldn’t literally be a prop in a dystopia novel. Ruthlessly exploiting malnourished cows and their calves, watered down to pad profits, jugged in plastic, extorting ungodly amounts of land and water resources, sold by a corporation that has a bigger bottom line than most sovereign nations, sold to the impoverished and brainwashed masses that fuel the very destruction of the only planet we fucking have.
That, and it’s 2%. Whole milk or no milk, and I will die on that hill.
