I’m aware. Been following that as well. I still trust Germany more than I trust the USA. I unfortunately can’t really move to one of the larger cities as it’s pretty cost prohibitive until my wife could find a job. We are going to live in a less populated town for a while and ramp up culturally and see how everything goes. She speaks Spanish fluently, so we may end up in Spain after some time. It’s hard to say.

It’s that damn reality that needs to be punished. Stupid facts and laws of economics making Trump look worse than he is.

My phone was on its way out so I got something with better translation features and support for my move to Germany. Was it expensive? Yes. Is it less expensive than it will be? Also yes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this causes scalpers to start hoarding goods again like they did during the pandemic. Artificial scarcity but still cheaper than the official price on Amazon or whatever.
Companies are pre-buying goods and laying off workers already, so why wouldn’t the citizenry?

Yeah encryption is a must in general but also especially going forward. I move my group to Signal. I don’t like that it’s USA owned and run, so I’m hoping the other projects globally will start to improve interface and functionality wise. Also open to suggestions.

You’re posting on here and other channels. The NSA, FBI, and anyone else caught up in the wholesale data collection on US citizens has a full profile on you.
Guess who now has that data?

Hope you’re right but my wife and her family are Salvadoreños. I can’t take chances.

Joe Rogan, Aiden Ross, Theo Von, Andrew Tate, etc. will have Gen Z men in lockstep with whoever rises to the top of the shit pile. It’s like Rush Limbaugh on steroids. Coordinated, algorithm driven, and a pipeline ready to take any young man without critical thinking skills down the slippery slope to the alt-right.
That’s what scares me the most and feels different about all of this.
I was worried Bush 2 would cancel elections to continue presiding over his War on Terror. This feels so much worse.

Until a new strongman pops up. I’ve been watching this movie for 30+ years.
They’re not going to seize power and then fuck it up. Project 2025 will go forward. There is structure behind this movement. I’d like to believe that Trump dying or going away would fix the problem too, but it won’t.

The right wing always galvanizes behind someone new if it means they get to hurt their enemies.

Until they kill him or use the 25th amendment to install Vance. Now that he’s won, you think the people around the useful idiot who have accepted all the Russian money will just let him fuck their plans up?

Realistically people should start to self sort and leftists should start to purchase and train with guns if they don’t have them for their family’s protection.

I was making a little joke there, but having never engaged with that kind of content, it’s just what I see when I go to all communities. If I scroll far enough down I start seeing gonewild stuff. Lemmy isn’t popular enough that the SFW stuff drowns out the NSFW stuff. I just can’t see myself using this site at work, or reddit for that matter unless I got there from looking up the answer to a technical problem. Always best to keep that stuff separate, but I just think people should understand that this site probably leans toward inherently unrelated to work at best, and unsafe at worst.

This is Lemmy. There are regularly posts about the end of capitalism and furdicks that hit my All page. No way in hell I’d use this site at work.

Thanks for clarifying. Seems I misread your intent. Apologies for that. Take care.

I think your characterization is probably somewhat incorrect. I care, and I have seen other parents care. Maybe single childless people don’t care, but this is not always the case.
I care about other people’s kids. I want them housed, fed, clothed, etc.
I want my tax dollars to improve other’s lives so they have what they need to be self-actualized human beings.
I won’t let them get hurt at the playground if I can help it.
I watch them when they cross the street to make sure they do it safely.
I have little ones myself and I believe it takes a village. I’m also 37 and a German/US dual national. I was raised to care, and the societal standards for the US are not a one size fits all definition globally. My wife is Latina and her family is friendly to all children and show lots of care. Germans watch out for others’ kids as they walk to school or play on the playground. It’s disappointing to hear that the fake niceness of the US really is fake here but not very surprising. You truly can’t relate to each other. I am glad I’m moving out next year.
Yes yes. I know this is the internet and kids bad, but I do enjoy when a child smiles or has a small victory. And I enjoy seeing my friend’s children be friends with mine and grow up together.
TLDR some of us care and love to see pictures and hear about your kids.

Walk through a perfume/cologne shop and put a vibrating butt plug in and that ought to cover the rest.

Not a biologist, but it actually is better on paper. They can still pierce other animals. Just not humans. They stay part of the food chain for amphibians and birds or what not, we don’t get malaria. Seems like a win-win.
