As someone who uses Gnome familly applications daily, I have to disagree with the notion that bad UX is fundamental to FOSS software. The gnome apps and shell all follow the same set of UX guidelines and feel quite cohesive as a result. I can definetly see where you get the idea of bad UX in foss though (looking at you, GIMP and Libreoffice)
- Comment on Before buying this printer, I made a quick search to confirm that it has wifi connectivity... (the algorithm lied to me) 3 days ago:
I set up a RPI 2 at my parent’s house connected to a 15 year old printer and it works like magic. Basically any device can detect and use the printer using Samba as long as it’s on the network. No drivers or anything.

It’s still silly that they did not just put the button on the back like their previous mac minis. Also, someone using an non-apple keyboard might be using the button more often, which seems plausible given that the keyboard is a separate purchase starting at $99.

Erm, actually, the Pi 5 can do 6 monitors with a dGPU attached. Jeff Geerling just did a video about using AMD cards with the PI.
- Comment on How many Nintendo Switches do I need for a family of gamers? 1 week ago:
I personally stick to only physical games since they cost the same, but are stored on the cartridge, meaning I don’t have to upgrade my switch’s measly 32GB of storage.

- Comment on On a lighter note: Why do people still buy fast food? 2 weeks ago:
Exactly. If they are just reheating frozen food, it’s easier and cheaper just to do it at home using a mircowave. Throw in some frozen veggies for added health.

By this metric, the wii is better than the switch since it can backup saves without a subscription or internet connection.

The only redeeming thing about the PS5 is the support for standard NVME SSDs. But at that point, just get a PC.

I’ve looked into getting these magnetic connectors for some of my devices but I’ve seen to many horror stories online about electrical damage caused by these cables. Seems worth it just to stick to plain connectors.
- Comment on [Video] VFX Artist Reveals the True Scale of Minecraft 2 months ago:
Yeah, I found the comparisons of world size when using seeds to be a bit useless. Like, if Minecraft updated tomorrow with a 128 bit seed, it would have basically no impact on the game but vastly increases the amount of possible worlds. Other than that, this is a gem of a video.

I though Gmod did not come with many assets, but instead used what you had locally on your computer in other source games?

- Comment on I should be banned from using microwaves 4 months ago:
Interesting. My microwave does exactly that and I use it all the time. It also has “more” and “less” buttons to fine adjust the time by increments of 10 seconds, meaning I never have to enter a number or hit “start” most of the time.
