I can agree with you, the initial experience can be daunting for new users especially since majority of communities are of political nature. This experience honestly is why i think most people now reside in such communities - as that’s the experience with me.
In addition, I can agree with extremist stances being prominent on here. Eco-fascism is one of those that I found common even when I was only part of the “basic” communities.
- Comment on Is it completely impossible to do age verification without compromising privacy? 2 weeks ago:
That brings us to the whole concept of the internet. Decentralisation. Everyone at this point is impacted; and while age is being used as a weapon, the internet is becoming more and more centralised.
Amazon and cloudflare outages were warnings before the real storm. Decentralisation is where we should strive for - and yet the only thing this proves, is the naiveness and the lack of understanding the people that make these laws have.

That’s because their bunch of hypocrites. The only thing they’re fuelled by is misinformation and greed. Emotional manipulation is their go to weapon because their macharvellistic ego only lives by that.
Don’t get me started on discrimination which comes with this type of situation. Teens/adolescents being infantilised, and indoctrinated that they know fuck all then being lumped right in with children.
But why should they explore their sexuality if they can read the bible instead - to remain pure. Of course, touching your Coochie will land you strait to the devil himself.
At that point, the quote never have sex until you have married makes more and more sense. It is control from the first moment you become a teenager to the point where marriage becomes a thing. All because of this perceived purity (Even if the bible isn’t in its entirety pure).

The kids are just bait for the masses, the big bad wolf doesn’t care about the safety. Control is what they’re after.
Besides that the point about guardrails, is what I agree in. It would prove beneficial for kids until they become fully aware teenagers. It is also beneficial to note the lack of distinction between teens and kids within these laws. This is what truly makes this predatory - where the fully aware individuals are stripped off their rights.
If they are going to take away the rights of our children, teens & adolescents, what is stopping them from taking away our rights?

- Comment on Anon uses the internet like a normie 1 month ago:
I doubt most website owners are in on this scheme …
A scheme not totally up to their control - as most website owners are not fully in control of their website. It is known the present internet is now majorly influenced by centralized corporate structures. As such market share of Wordpress (mobiloud.com) represents around 45%, used provide a platform for website hosting used for CAM and non-CAM applications; Other percentages are corresponding to shopify, wix, etc.
It is incorrect to assume the majority of website owners are fully independent of corporate management. Other point to consider is google dependence, which is something that occurs more deeply than website deployment and is a major influence on ads within websites.
- Comment on Anon uses the internet like a normie 1 month ago:
but in a somewhat less aggravating way.
This is a quite interesting point to take in. The ads are there but not a straight to the face like website ads are.
TikTok and TikTok alternatives as mentioned, use ads that pop up periodically, but naturally - as in it can be indistinguishable to other content that is presented. As said, the ads are less intrusive and more so designed to occupy the user for a couple of seconds to not effectively brake their inertia of scrolling.
The status quo in the ad sector looks mismatched - but possibly for a purpose. It is known that ads are not only used for advertising on its own, but as a method of manipulation (e.g: YouTube premium). The friendly nature of TikTok ads in contrast to intrusive website ads poses an important question if the design is intentional and in result manipulative. In result, individuals of all ages are drawn to short form content and drawn from effective long form content. Additionally, since most individuals irrespective of age are essentially living off of short form content, it means they don’t have effective strategies developed to navigate or use the power of the wider element. This situation is attributed to discouragement; in effect all age groups are seen to be affected - even considering many individuals which have skills for browsing the wider internet.
- Comment on do you remember a time when societies were so polarized and shifted so much to the right like today? How long did it last? 2 months ago:
There is a good video that explains this kind of phenomenon. First it starts with a political 1D left-right line then ends with a political tesseract.
Important thing is, it is better off to treat it as a spectrum rather than a graph. Because, as implied - complexity.

At this point it’s stupid to make sense of how this shit law does good to children and society. All the government is doing is disrespecting children and teens into absolute control - minors are essentially a tool, nothing more.

Once I was doubting the need for higher levels of mathematics. Now as an engineer I realize the utility of this knowledge.
What made my change my mind? Well it’s definitely not my intelligence nor my age, it’s the practical application of that theory which got me here. Reading in between the lines can only happen if you like what you’re doing.

It is a solution specifically designed for music. Library representation is much more predictable and it’s interface feels very efficient and clean.
It essentially does what you expect from a music streaming service.

It’s not about convenience. It is about control, and manipulation. There is only one thing important and it is money.
Corpos, are trying their hardest to cut corners on every opportunity. It was promised that digital games where to be cheaper than the physical alternative - but alas that promise was broken when all that did was tie the customer down into a literal monopoly.
In my experience, some indie games still have that “charm”. So it’s not about convenience, it’s caring about your customers.

That is one thing that I don’t get. There is so much quotes and ideas that are just manipulated out of spite to target the working class. It’s like the “elites” are really on the sidelines while we’re fighting our own people.
Even “carbon footprint” is a quote fabricated to put the wrong doings of the petroleum industry on us.

- Comment on Can you think of any now? 2 months ago:
Ageism, it is always implied that adults are the ones right - because what adult would accept a child to disprove their logic?
It’s also one of those myths which people forget after a year; and even if its encountered again, it is treated as insignificant.

That’s just how society is, most stuff just isn’t logical or ethical. As such, there are people that get aggressive over others asking questions, how is that socially acceptable?
But yes, acceptance by society doesn’t mean it’s right. Majority of the time morality is forcefully projected into others, and penalised if they dare to question that morality.
- Comment on Anon dates a 19 y/o 2 months ago:
I don’t quite agree with the replies. The statement “it matches experiences” is baseless as stated in my other reply.
In general, experience ≠ age. This is because experience is influenced by various physical factors such as opportunities, learning environments, etc. Not exactly by age.
- Comment on Anon dates a 19 y/o 2 months ago:
That’s because it’s all based on assumptions and projected morals. Commonly treated as a ultimate truth not as a “rule of thumb” as it is destined to be - hostility is built in this “rule”.
In general, this rule essentially dictates the ethics of independent people. Because of this there is no description, it’s a requirement to say “ew”.
- Comment on Anon dates a 19 y/o 2 months ago:
What’s interesting is this rule apparently originated from the early 1900s.
- Comment on Anon dates a 19 y/o 2 months ago:
Exactly, this “rule” is really just equivalent to other forms of snake oil there is. It is baseless and completely made up.

OP doesn’t understand what cultural progression is. Of course different people gonna do stuff differently as time progresses, the class she was when you where in high school is just irrelevant.
This is the case where op just has skill issue, and is stuck in the past like a boomer he is.
