This isn’t necessarily accurate and probably depends on the model of open backed headphones. You can definitely hear music from many open back headphones when they are playing music if you are close, even at normal listening levels. My wife used to constantly complains about it when my office was in our bedroom and I had to switch to my closed back over ears that isolated well.

I just assumed they hired the same person that was previously in charge of naming Street Fighter games from Capcom. I was sure the next Xbox would be named something like Xbox X 360 Series X Alpha Championship Edition with Hyper Fighting

That seems bizarre based on the prices I see, maybe they are intentionally undercutting the others locally in your area specifically. Whole Foods was by far the cheapest place to buy eggs earliest this year and were obviously using them as a loss leader (we’re talking less than half the price of standard grocery stores in the same area).
- Comment on A Completely Natural Conversation in the NYC Reddit 2 weeks ago:
I only go to Whole Foods for a few specific stuff items that I can’t get elsewhere due to food allergies. There is no way they are the cheapest place to get groceries.
- Comment on What are your favorite Tactical RPGs? 2 weeks ago:
There are a few specific missions that are indeed stacked against you, but they are important story missions that are like boss fights. You don’t have to play them a specific way to beat them at all, people just get too caught up in playing these games in cookie cutter ways sometimes and now you get site created by AI slop that just regurgitate it.

Disgaea and like are intentionally non-serious and funny. If the humor doesn’t do it for you in the slightest then it’s not for you sadly. I do have to say that once you get hooked on the series, all the other games feel like their mechanics are overly simplistic though.
And no, Tactics Ogre is all serious and very very good.
- Comment on What are your favorite Tactical RPGs? 2 weeks ago:
My favorites are probably the Disgaea series and related games (Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave) and Tactics Ogre. I also like Tactics Ogres more popular little brother, Final Fantasy Tactics.

I guess this is just a difference in how we look at it. I have for decades now used what I perceive as quality/value to decide whether I should buy a game or whether it may be worth if later if it goes on a steep sale. For example, some AAA game that get polarizing reviews or is known to be very short might be an instance where I’d be not be inclined to pay full price because to me, it wasn’t worth the price. Raising the price of a game to $80 means that I personally will want more value out of it. I just bought a game on Steam yesterday for $20 on sale, which was to me worthwhile. If it had been $80, there is no way I would have bought it.

So, just so I am clear, you think that it is silly to want different amounts of quality or value from products based on how they are priced?

They probably meant that it felt like a game that was stripped down and shallow compared to similar AAA “full price” games and I completely agree. After playing the first one, I wouldn’t only consider buying this new game if it was at least 50% off.

Wow, the evil forces of “coke” have made significant territory gains since the last time I saw one of these maps. I have never heard a single person call a random non-coke soda a “coke”. I recently moved to a “pop” area, but I haven’t received any push back from saying soda at least. I did hear some old people here specifically call it “soda pop” though.

I guess if they didn’t read the books, watch the show, or play the most popular and most recent game in the series, then it is fairly reasonable for them to be confused as they won’t know shit.

Must be a Europe thing, I see listings this very moment for some under $100 that can fit a whole chicken.
- Comment on Explains crossfit 1 month ago:
We’re clearly thinking of or seeing different products. The older glass convection ovens I used to see were in the $300-$400 ballpark in the US back in the 90s and early 2000s, where as typical air fryers here are all sub $100 unless you are getting a “fancy” model that includes some sort of “grilling” or rotisserie functionality. As you are referring to prices in euros, I can only assume that we had very different marketed products.
- Comment on Explains crossfit 1 month ago:
The magic of “air fryers”, other than a good marketing name, was that they were also much cheaper that those awesome glass convection ovens and were not targeting a higher class demographic.

We used to call Panama City the “Redneck Riviera”, but I grew up in FL. The panhandle is most definitely closer to “Lower Alabama” in hindsight. Funny enough, we did call the other part of north Florida “South Georgia”.
- Comment on The joy of going through pregnancy along with your sister 1 month ago:
We’ll compromise and say Florida panhandle, which is probably generally worse than either :)

I don’t think patents and copyright “need to die”, but they are currently both overly broad and last far too long. Copyright protection especially has no justifiable reason to be even 1/4 as long as it is.

I’m on a Debian based distro, but it is super simple. To hold a driver, or any package to a version just use “sudo aptitude hold <name or package here>” to undo this at any point just use “sudo aptitude unhold <name or package here>”. If you use the GUI package manager, there is a “Lock Version” option in a menu that does it.
If you’re on a Redhat based distro, Federa et al, I believe the keyword is “versionlock” for yum or dnf, but I would definitely recommend looking at a reference for the command before blinding following me on that one.

I’m responding to you, but this is more for others to see since you moved to AMD.
I used Nvidia cards for many years on Linux and only recently switched back to AMD. The main issues I ran into with Nvidia were related to driver updates breaking things rather than things not working in general. So, I eventually found that holding Nvidia drivers to versions that worked without issues was the best bet and only updating them on occasion after they had been out for a bit and the consensus was that they weren’t breaking stuff.
