It’s honestly fairly level headed for anyone. Make sure your loved ones aren’t making dramatic and life-altering changes without being sure they want it? Seems reasonable to me. Especially for a topic that is largely a muddled mystery for the average person.
- Comment on Dinner bell is going off 1 week ago:
Occasionally my partner will do that too. I’ve had it happen to me, like, twice.
- Comment on Why do some people assume all immigrants are illegal and should "go back to where they came from"? Shouldn't that logic apply to all non-Native Americans? 2 weeks ago:
Short answer is “propaganda”. News agencies against immigration will pretty regularly swap between “illegal immigrants”, “immigrants”, and <insert current target race here> as if they’re practically interchangable to build whatever narrative they want, and also to slowly build an association between ‘people of <insert race>’, ‘being a drain on society’, and ‘being here illegally’ to get the average person to side with them.
- Comment on Is anyone planning on doing anything about trump creating a concentration camp at guantanamo bay? 3 weeks ago:
2 years to maybe do something, 4 years maybe to maybe do something better.
- Comment on Ubisoft announces studio closure as it lays off 185 staff 3 weeks ago:
I think the big “issue” is that there’s a notable lag between loss of goodwill and loss of income/profit/value, and there’s an even bigger lag between trying to fix goodwill and returns on that. It makes it too hard for any profit-first company to get right.

Platformers.
- Comment on Why do AI bros and other staunch AI defenders seem happy about the potential of killing off the creative industries? 1 month ago:
I think this is the big contention point. In a world without a need for jobs, AI would be a neat alternative method of art generation, and a fascinating advancement of technology as a whole…
but UBI is not yet real and jobs still need to be had. Without some form of life-securement for those who provided the art to be trained off of, we’re just using tech to really fuck people over. It’s definitely a moral grey area - very dark grey.
- Comment on Anon doesn't wash 1 month ago:
I was going to mention not washing your chicken, but the comments nail it. Don’t wash your chicken, the bacteria just spreads around your kitchen.
- Comment on Why is it that clasped hands tends to be the norm for praying? 🙏 1 month ago:
And actions/motions needed to be exaggerated to fully come across.
- Comment on A fake Nintendo lawyer is scaring YouTubers, and it’s not clear YouTube can stop him 1 month ago:
Bruh nintendo seems starkly opposed to getting even ok at modern networking.
- Comment on Is there anything Lemmy has more/better content for than Reddit and other mainstream sites? 2 months ago:
I feel you, man. Like, I appreciate what Linux is for, but the Linux content here is extremely blind to the average user’s use-case. It makes it hard to take suggestions and input seriously.
- Comment on TRIBES: The Most Influential FPS You (Probably) Never Played [video essay 52:59] 2 months ago:
More likely it’s just an older game now with less popularity, and they expect their viewers to be the younger-ish crowd.
- Comment on Do you want the murderer of the UnitHealthcare CEO prosecuted? 2 months ago:
I agree with your premise, but we’re in a really fucked civilization right now where there’s a class of “elite” people who can make decisions that negatively affect the literal lives of millions without worry. We’re not in a fair or stable civilization right now, which is why so many people are on team “nah I hope this guy gets away with it”.

Shekel also sounds funny to us. It might be related to how it sounds kinda similar to shekel, but I think he’s just noting that the goofy-sounding name is real.
- Comment on When did browsers start being able to remember your previous session. 2 months ago:
I remember doing similar. I would intentionally kill my browser/computer without gracefully shutting down the browser. Literally everything else I would go and shut down normally, browser needed to be crashed.
- Comment on alpha 2 months ago:
I think probably you’re too German. It’s kind of a goofy name from an English point of view. And, for clarity, we don’t necessarily generally think German names are particularly goofy.
Either that or I’m missing what the guy is referencing.
- Comment on I do not want to do anything. Is this addiction? 2 months ago:
Sounds like burnout/depression/ADHD over addiction.
- Comment on At what point do you stop calling the years "two thousand and X" and start calling them "twenty X"? 3 months ago:
I know that’s what they try to teach you in math in school, but absolutely nobody does it that way in practice, making it just wrong to teach it.
- Comment on If Trump wins the election thru fraud how can the democrats refute it and prove they won? Or will it just be like another Jan 6 and four years of whining like Trump? 3 months ago:
He doesn’t need to name a successor. His followers just need to be convinced that he named one.
- Comment on Why do phone manufacturers use in-display fingerprint readers instead of fingerprint readers on the power button? 4 months ago:
Yes! I’m so sad they’ve moved away from this. I could pull out my phone AND unlock it in the same grab.
- Comment on "Now everyone will have an easy reference table at hand!" 5 months ago:
Yeah I’m vaguely remembering something similar. I have these faint whispers of a memory of my teacher forgetting (or probably, “forgetting”) to cover something on the wall during a memorization test.
- Comment on What is a stupid question? 6 months ago:
Once someone asked if Stephen and Stephen were pronounced the same. Presumably they meant “Steven” for one of those, but the question as written was dumb.
- Comment on Planning to propose in a few months, what should I look for in a good value engagement ring? 7 months ago:
Yeah, but a lot of people come to the agreement that they’ll get married without an official proposal date getting set.
- Comment on If presidential immunity is absolute.. 9 months ago:
Ultra-right wing groups slowly taking over various branches of the government because roughly 30% of the population will always vote for them, no matter what.
- Comment on If a universal basic income started today with the stipulation that you had to put 40 hrs/wk towards making the world a better place or solving societal problems, how would you spend your time? 9 months ago:
I would just keep working. UBI should be unlocking the ability for us to pursue our passions, hobbies, and mental/physical health. If I just gotta work anyways, I choose my current job.
- Comment on What side do you open a banana from? 9 months ago:
Yup. Literally just pinch the bottom nub and it’s open.
- Comment on Is there a more politically and ideologically diverse alternative for Lemmy? 10 months ago:
Yes, kinda. It’s a go-to for white nationalist types to complain about a lack of diversity in opinions when they really mean they’re mad everyone hates bigotry. They feel that all conversation is biased simply because the people don’t seem to want to be haters as much as they are. So it’s not really that they want more diversity, it’s that they want the conversations to be diverse enough to accept their views.

Are you wearing shoes without socks?

I’ve also assumed the same. There’s no way it’s a rare enough edge case not to be impactful
