Britain is where the Canuckians got that from. Our colonies ranged very far and very wide, and for that we’re very sorry.

I acquired the new Ted Danson/Mike Schur show, A Man on the Inside a few days ago. Given that it’s spy-coded I didn’t think it unusual when the opening scene supposedly filmed in the early '80s was in a foreign language. Figured that maybe Danson’s character is ex-KGB or some shit and that there were no subtitles because we’re not really supposed to know what he’s saying.
Yeah, no. I’d somehow managed to strip out all language files but Turkish when transcoding it from MKV to MP4.

Off the top of my head, What Dreams May Come and One Hour Photo are two wildly different types of movie, both kinda bleak in their own way, and neither what you’d turn to if you wanted a Robin Williams comedy. To some extent World’s Greatest Dad as well, though that one actually is pretty funny.

Reaper is available for Linux. I can’t vouch for it as I’ve not used it on there, but I’ve used it on Mac and it’s great. Generally well regarded and is pretty inexpensive.

Pretty sure they cribbed most of that article from This Hank Green video from the same day. It’s a message worth spreading though, to be fair.
- Comment on What's Mastodon precious? 4 weeks ago:
I’ve been a heavy Mastodon user for two years, and I honestly don’t see why so many people on Lemmy give it so much shit. Certainly not in favour of the likes of Bluesky.
I get WAY more engagement with my posts on there than I ever did on Twitter. And maybe I’m just at an age where I don’t give a shit about celebrity, but I couldn’t care less that all the Big Names have gone to Bluesky and Threads. It’s great not seeing the same people being shared into my TL all the time.

It’s not that weird, given that they’re both examples of Fediverse software that can (in theory, though not well in practice) interact with each other.
As for Masto being separate instances; I’ve never really had a problem with that. Follow a bunch of people from different servers and you’ll soon begin to federate and link up with other people.

I see folks posting on Mastodon, griping that it’s failing, that it’ll never be as popular as Bluesky and Threads because of X and Y, and I’m like, I’m over there chatting to people all day, having a fine time, following new people, picking up new followers, and generally enjoying it more than I ever really enjoyed Twitter.
I don’t really understand why those folks want it to be more than it is.
“Oh, but there are no journalists!”
Good? I don’t want endless ragebait posted in my feeds. I just wanna be chill, share music recommendations, and enjoy more people interacting with my radio show than ever did on Twitter.
