I’m just happy that they’ve finally nailed how to make a beer non-alcoholic without making it taste like crap. For example, a Leffe (popular Belgian trappist beer) tastes exactly the same in the non-alcoholic version, whether it’s Leffe Bruin or Leffe Blond 😋
When you want to quit drinking

I appreciate how far NA beers have come since O’Douls. It’s gotten to the point where I can much more easily replace the want for a certain kind of beer in some situations—a party, working out in the yard, eating certain foods—with a Partake or an Athletic, and not feel like I’m missing something.
But, gosh, I want someone other than Guinness to make a good NA stout.

Bought a few bottles of non-alcoholic beer. One brand of beer tasted like salted soda water with a yellow tinge. The second bottle attempted to recreate the flavour of an alcoholic beer by adding bitterness.
So it’s hard for me to imagine the perfect flavour of a non-alcoholic beer.

Well just like regular beer, there’s good ones and bad ones.
As for the excess bitterness, that’s more about IPAs and similar overly hoppy beers being both popular and easier to make in general, rather than specific to non-alcoholic ones.
One of the most annoying things to me is when they change a non-alcoholic beer I like into an overly hoppy monstrosity. Happens far too much.
Anyways, maybe try the non-alcoholic version of a beer you know you like? The non-alcoholic version of a bad beer will tend to be bad too 🤷

I find non-alcoholic beer tastes a lot more sour, and I’ve tried both Heineken and Erdinger 0%.
Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I haven’t tasted the non-alcoholic Erdinger but yeah, Heineken 0.0 sucks even though regular Heineken doesn’t. That’s the exception rather than the rule, though, in my experience…

Maybe it’s because I just woke up, but I’m not sure I get it?

I would guess that the joke is when you are addicted to alcohol and are attempting to quit, it feels like temptations are shoved in your face from every direction and can feel inescapable. The dudes being chased by a beer he doesn’t want like it’s Freddy Kruger.

Ahh, sorry, didn’t realize it was a gif. Thought it was a still image!

Modelo, that’s the “fancy beer” (as far as industrial beers go) by the makers of Corona.

I dunno man. Alcoholism isn’t really a joke to those suffering from it, nor their families.

I’m an alcoholic, come from a family of alcoholics, grew up in an alcoholic home, have suffered consequences from living and being around alcohol addiction. I find this chuckle worthy. Not everything has to be serious and treated with kid gloves. I’m planning on sending this to my friend who is also struggling with alcohol addiction, and I know she’ll find it funny.
GR4VY@lemmy.world 11 months ago
As an alcoholic who is actively struggling, this got a smirk out of me.
Lophostemon@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’m struggling and not really able to treat it with much humour, sorry.
JadenSmith@sh.itjust.works 11 months ago
Most people are just apprehensive in treating it for what it is: drug addiction.

i was gunna say... this isnt funny.. sad maybe.

Humor is a very common coping mechanism.
