Just stop trying and you can get rocked like a baby.
Have you noticed this where you work?

If you store enough vital information in your head, you never need to really work hard except when you become the fire extinguisher for other people’s fuck-ups.

I’ve been working at my job for quite some time now. By this point I know pretty much everything there is to know, I can work with all manufacturing machines, do maintenance, configurations, etc.
There are alot of “bad jobs” around that you just gotta do in-between manufacturing itself, and for a second year now the management leaves me alone. I feel like we have this unwritten contract that says “I have enough experience to jump to a better job, but if you don’t make me do the nasty jobs, I’ll continue working”.

I’ve had many coworkers over the years who made their greatest contributions to the company by doing nothing. In programming, the amount of damage some people can do by actually doing stuff is almost inconceivable.

Nothing like picking up all the slack because the guy who usually watches TV on shift is once again watching TV, this time with the boss.

Hey you don’t have to call me.out like that. I put it a solid effort those first 2 years specifically so I could lazily coast for the remainder of my contract.

I’m an at-will employee writing this comment from my desk job. I worked hard for that “achieved greater than expected results” last year, and you bet your whole ass I’m gonna take a few extra poops now if I wanna.
