I doubt this will take off like, say, GlassDoor, but if it catches on, could be an interesting resource to make oneself feel better. Orders of magnitude more data are needed for this to be useful.
There’s no reason in these days of automated systems why they can’t send out a “thanks, but not this time” email, text or whatever.
I actually ususually get that. Once in awhile its from an email where I can reply thank you for your time.
Friends and i have been sharing the same excel doc for years now. It has all the companies we have all applied to and thier respective process. Its helped weed out bad companies in our area for years.
Wr have been talking qbout making an app for years…but its easier to just do a control f or sort. And its been close to 20 years ish. Now its a libre office sheet. Its beem through many iterations.
This is awesome but it can never have an impact on hiring practices. Making this information public can change behaviors, given the data can’t be cooked.
I mean there is a VERY small pool of people that are good at their jobs and in our area of expertise. And once one of us gets a good job, we usually all try to go to that company within reason.
Local subreddits used to have lists of things like top restaurants or little known museums etc. if your area has a community on Lemmy you might be able to contact the mods and see if they’d be interested in a sidebar link for it or something.
I should do this for my area
Sometime ago I had the opportunity to interview and hire 4 interns for our team. We are a very small company and had like 300 applicants. It’s brutal on both sides. I got things to do and deadlines to meet. I can only do so much. So I started replying to of the candidates that didn’t make it. For us it’s very technical and specific what we are looking for, but it’s still hard to say sorry but you didn’t make it. But regardless of what I feel, HR stepped in …two HR people… and they told me to stop sending closure emails. They AI crafted a single reply email and mass mailed it to the remaining people. I think with my heart as if I was the candidate. They think with whatever the fuck makes you think of people as “resources”. It’s probably something to do with not bankrupting the company by bringing the wrong people in and pissing off everyone else.
Some of that is true. One of our candidates turned out to be a nice guy but extremely lazy and entitled. It’s hard to work with someone like that in your small team. Not only do you have to do the hard work that 20 people used to do before the pandemic lay offs but now you also gotta put up with some shit from captain know it all but only after you tech them 39 times what to know and when to know it.

Is the guy properly lazy, or is he just not willing to handle the workload of 20 people? I’m a hard worker, but only up to a certain point. If I joined a small team that had one employee trying to handle the work that used to be split between 20 employees, I wouldn’t exactly be inspired to go above and beyond my post/pay grade; I’d be concerned that no amount of effort I put in would ultimately matter because the team is fundamentally understaffed.
It’s employee owned. But it’s still under a management structure. There’s a little nepo prick gunning for my job. Yeah life is good. I haven’t quit because I want to keep feeding my kids. It’s a tough position.

Yeah. They change their own titles, but I worry it’s still the same – they just remembered the ‘human’ part of ‘human resources’ is merely an adjective.
Every company does this. So this will be great if you want a database of companies that exist.
When you get a job, do you go back and notify all the companies that you interviewed with? Because I don’t.
My advice: get as many interviews as you can. When you’re done, forget about them and move on to the next one.
When I get a job, I do notify those that gave me an offer. If a company has already rejected me then of course I’m not emailing them back to say “yeah, well in rejecting you!”

That’s why I like applying to government positions because they have like a tracker and shows you every step, and you get a response when the position closed and updates after interviews so you know your status
You at least know where you stand thats for sure.
It would be awesome if you could localize the results. Knowing that Microsoft is one of the worst offenders helps me very little, because I live in bumfuck nowhere. However, I bet I’d find some useful stuff at

The moment you realize a company is only a cash-making machine and not an actual person you interact with, and expect politeness and humanity out of, you’ll stop being offended about companies ghosting you.
When a company sends you a letter to tell you your application has been rejected, it’s only a courtesy extended to you by a HUMAN HR person who actually cares about behaving decently, not by the company. So enjoy the gesture when it happens, but simply ignore it when it doesn’t.
