I think there may be a correlation between shifting to the right/far right and reading/hearing comprehension.

At least give healthcare to veterans, especially mental healthcare. 7% of homeless people in the US are veterans.

The VA is supposed to, but like Medicare/Medicaid, is hampered in its ability to be distributed to all those who need it.
There’s a reason “not service related” has become an in-joke among active/former servicemembers, sadly.

6% of the adult population of the US are veterans. All people deserve access to healthcare.

I agree all people deserve access to healthcare.
With your stat of 6% I think my stat is almost pointless now since homelessness is almost the same for the nonveteran population. Is this correct?

and 40+million people are uninsured.

I remember seeing a segment on the news that said the heads of the military said they have enough crap but the politicians keep giving them more money to buy more crap. Why? Because the corrupt politicians are bribed by the weapon manufacturers.
Frustrating…

So many people just don’t listen to lyrics, or actually take the time to understand them.

Party I was at was trumpers and this irony is delicious.
They turned off hendrixs star spangled banner at woodstock. Little too experimental for em, little too on the nose.
Explaining to a 70 year old it was a protest song, hearing them just grumble under their breath is a new July 4th favorite memory for me. Like dude you were alive then how are you not aware.

That uh never happened, did it Homer?
DMCMNFIBFFF@lemmy.world 1 month ago
I figure it either didn’t happen, or if it happened, it was rare and minor.
I was watching a YT video about the movie that said about as much—and IIUC even Jane Fonda stood up for the vets.

Play it fucking louder.

To be fair veterans are among the most deserving of horrible treatment.

They engaged in mass murder; most knew/know post-Vietnam War history (or should know it before joining); and many voted for Trump, and/or Dubya Bush.

Great song.
But also “I’m a cool rocking Daddy in the USA” is one of the most cringe dad rock lyrics ever.
DMCMNFIBFFF@lemmy.world 1 month ago
It might be a POV in the song.
“The call me the breeze.”
“Some people call me the space cowboy … gangster of love …”

Born down in a dead man’s town The first kick I took was when I hit the ground End up like a dog that’s been beat too much ‘Til you spend half your life just to cover it up now
Born in the USA I was born in the USA I was born in the USA Born in the USA, now
Got in a little hometown jam So they put a rifle in my hands Send me off to a foreign land To go and kill the yellow man
Born in the USA I was born in the USA Born in the USA I was born in the USA
Come back home to the refinery Hiring man said, “Son, if it was up to me” Went down to see my V.A. man He said, “Son, don’t you understand, now?” Oh, yeah No, no No, no, no
I had a brother at Khe Sanh Fightin’ off them Viet Cong They’re still there, he’s all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon I got a picture of him in her arms now Down in the shadow of the penitentiary Out by the gas fires of the refinery I’m ten years burnin’ down the road Nowhere to run, ain’t got nowhere to go
Born in the USA I was born in the USA, oh Born in the USA I’m a long-gone daddy in the USA, now
Born in the USA Born in the USA Born in the USA I’m a cool rocking daddy in the USA, now
