It might be the right solution, but it wasn’t simple. Look how constantly divided the country was throughout that time culminating in the UK leaving.
If it were simple the referendum would have been a no brainer and the red wall Labour voters wouldn’t have sided with UKIP and the Tories in pulling us out. But there’s a lot more nuances and complications that make it not simple.

That’s exactly the point. If it sounds too easy to be true, you know it isn’t. And that’s all that nationalists have been doing for like ever. Unfortunately it is too appealing to blame the mess you caused on others and people WANT to believe it is true, as nobody likes to admit they have supported the wrong people their whole lives.
