That’s a horrible title for a halo game. Sheesh…

I assume that it’s intended to be a nod to the original game’s full title, Halo: Combat Evolved. But “combat” is an uncountable/mass noun:
combat (countable and uncountable, plural combats)
But “campaign” is a countable noun:
en.wiktionary.org/wiki/campaign
campaign (plural campaigns)
So I guess it’s grammatically incorrect without an [article](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_(grammar) before “campaign”.

With this modern Microsoft corporate led Xbox all you need to do is think of the shittiest way to do something for even shittier reasons and in the end you won’t be far off.
Since before the OG Xbox there was an internal struggle between the game focused leadership and corporate Microsoft. In the end all the game focused people left. Leaving the corporate vultures left to drag the whole Xbox brand into the ground. They will continue to until there is nothing left

As Bungie demonstrates: you can take the studio out of the Microsoft management that makes passionate employees quit, but you can’t take the Microsoft management that makes the passionate employees quit out of the studio.

You either die a Looking Glass Studios or live long enough to become an EA …

This is old news, we already knew the Remake is handheld by Virtuos and with major changes in a lot of aspect. Halo Studios in mainly working on the new game right now.

On one hand, I get it. Some of what made Halo CE a great FPS at the time has basically been reused (and expanded upon) by nearly every FPS since then, so it makes a lot of sense to modernize it to catch up.
On the other hand, it feels funky to grab the original and give it this overhaul. Why not tell a new story if you’re going to make so many changes anyways?

They claim it’s because they’re using Unreal Engine for the first time and wanted to test the waters by remaking a game they know well. Honestly it just makes them sound even lazier in my book. That and the rumors of massive amounts of generative AI used for development.

Aka “Claude rewrite this in unreal engine”

So many game sequels started that way, but then were built up into their own games ones they’d proved out the engine.

They’ve been doing a bad job of writing new stories. Fumbled it already with 4, 5, and Infinite. Maybe put enough time after Infinite for people to not groan as much as before about the next antagonist pivot

because that requires more money. why bother when you can just polish an old game and resell for the same price?
LettyWhiterock@lemmy.world 2 days ago
I say this after buying various straightforward remakes, but I think switching things up gives it more justification for existing. The original still exists. Why not use it as a base and change things up?

id imagine remaking something with an established story line is easier to do for an outsourced team.
keep in mind, none of the multiplayer stuff is being remade, a multiplayer game is being made by halo studios themselves. whatever this team isnthats doing the outsourced work is solely working on modernizing the campaigns
