  Absolutely love Formula 1, been a fan for 30 years, find the whole cutting edge technology and it’s public applications fascinating…

  …but yeah lol fuck the circus. Formula 1 has gone from pure greed on the organisation front to unadulterated morally bankrupt and taking-the-piss greed. Saudi, Qatar, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi… yeah nah fuck that noise, a bit of fire under Liberty Media’s chair would do them good.

  It runs the risk of fucking the Vegas fanbase off 2005-stylez, but hey it can’t have been too terrible if there’s now three US races on the calendar.

      If you’re worried about leaded fuels (and I agree, you should be) then don’t look up next time a small plane flies over… They’re almost all still using leaded Avgas :\

      “Zero safe limits” has a lot to do with the scale. While it can’t be good for those in attendance, between the relative infrequency of races, limited number of cars on the field, and general use of batteries even in the ICE leagues (let alone caring about emissions for efficiency purposes), it is probably perfectly fine.

      Also, the number of safety and societal dangers of F1 go WELL beyond just dangerous fuel. Like, I enjoy watching the occasional race. But holy shit does F1 make pro wrestling look “not THAT bad…”

      For Formula 1 cars it is 5mg/l. Old four star leaded has about 840mg/l but is now banned. In the UK low lead petrol is available from a small number of specialist garages for classic cars which cannot run on unleaded and contains about 75mg/l.

      So while none is the best, this is a very small fraction in comparison as to what it used to be, and it also is to cover cross contamination purposes.

      Formula One hasn’t used leaded gasoline since the 90’s.

      The fuel they use is actually very similar to the gas that anyone can buy at the pump.

  I was in Vegas last month. Uber/Lyft drivers are fed up too. One driver told me that he used to meet his goals by 11am. Because of F1 construction traffic, now he’s driving an extra 10-15 hours per day to meet those same goals. He’s gonna be out of town this F1 month, visiting a friend in another state to consider moving there.

  Life is becoming worse for the residents, while the casinos get richer.
