The kid’s name? Albert Einstein.
Always funny to hear the young try to figure out stuff from the past.

That’s been a joke since at least 2013, so even if it happened, the kid was probably fucking with OOP.

Kids yearn for some object oriented programming

Yeah because the save icons colors are usually inverted with the plastic being darker than the rest. If the kid was truly unaware, they wouldnt even recognize the floppy as “the save icon”.
lugal@sopuli.xyz 2 days ago
Because kids can’t abstract forms? If you look at the save icon and say “this is a floppy disk” then kids can look at a floppy disk and say “this is a save icon”

I mean, first of all this is obviously not 3D printed. This is doomed either way I’d say.

So, what you’re saying is that the post, is in fact, shit?

I’m old enough I had a 5.25 inch drive in my desktop, just above the CD drive. Top comment I got: Cool, you have a slot in DVD!

I’m old enough to remember using cassette tapes and a monochrome monitor 😁

Ahh yes. Recording programs from the television, screaming at your mum to stop calling and not every time ruin the recording. Good times :-D

Given the number of people who know what a cassette tape is, I always find these jokes about floppies unrealistic. But a shitpost is a shitpost.

I recently handed out a stack of floppy disks to attendees of a 2600 meeting. I got this joke IRL from a bunch of people, many of whom were indeed younger than said disks.
