And, once they lose the weight, fast food will be there to welcome them back into the fold because the fundamental issues that causes people to become overweight in the first place aren’t dealt with by shots.

Why stop eating hamburgers when you can just take a pill and keep eating?

Yeah that’s not how that drug works. It makes you eat less mostly. Which means you buy less tacos and hamburgers.

Doesn’t it cause weight loss by killing your appetite?

Fast food doesn’t make you anymore fat than any other food. Calories in calories out.

    • hayvan@piefed.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

It does, indirectly. They are typically more calorie-dense, especially high in carbs. So the same volume of food gives you more energy to store as fat.

It makes you more inclined to eat more calories than you need.

Calories in calories out, except, fast food has minimal micronutrients therefore the body craves micronutrients and asks for more food.

You eat more fast food and the body is satisfied because it’s been fed. But then it digests the food and goes “damn, I need more micronutrients, more food please!” so then you eat more. Suddenly you’ve put a lot of calories in and now you’re unhealthy because you’re deficient in a bunch of things and have eaten far more salt, sugar, and fat than you should. Now you’re fat and getting healthy is even more difficult. So you eat some fast food to feel better about yourself…
