Ghost Writer?
How do Ghostwriters work? Does the person the book is about say to the writer I will give you 2 or 20 percent of the sales or is it a 50 50 split?

It is a flat fee. Either a publisher or a private commission. The fee will range from 6 figures for the top writers to low 5 figures.

Unless you are a complete retard and manage to negotiate the worst deal for yourself possible and give royalties to your ghost writer. The art of the deal.

It’s definitely not 50/50, there would be a negotiated amount (Fixed or percentage) less than that. The ghostwriter may be employed by the publisher and just receive a salary too.

I think they’re usually paid by the word. They don’t get residuals.

I would do it for a handjob if you dress as a cowboy and need a writer.

They usually get a set amount payable on submitting a final draft, or a salary. Which, if it’s an ego project, might be more lucrative than a percentage of profits.
