Developing allergies is the biggest bullshit on earth ever. I used to forage for a staple food but now if I eat that my throat swells up and I can’t breath.

I’ve heard there have been studies that indicate that in some part modern allergies are our bodies directing an evolved immune response that we once needed for all the parasites we constantly carried. They gave people that had certain food allergies parasites and suddenly their food allergies were just straight up gone.

Very interesting! Something that was missing from me in the 2nd article is whether the food allergy persisted after he rid himself of worms, which I assume that it did, given how he had traded the food allergy for a constant stomachache.
Still very interesting and all this stuff reminds me of the fact that don’t yet know almost anything in medicine and are often just treating illnesses once they come, sometimes in gruesome or expensive ways, and I’m not sure we should immediately discard all alternative medicine as useless or ineffective, maybe it’s only effective in rare cases and we don’t know what those cases look like.

The good news is Grandma finally stopped nutting in her recipes.

Only in November, grandma

Reason #2735 to not add your family on fb and/or configure the visibility of your posts.
Or you could leave that shit show altogether and be much happier for it 🤷

Me thinks the issue here is posting about No nut november on facebook, but I guess maybe I am the weirdo?
altima_neo@lemmy.zip 2 years ago
Right? The only reason I even had Facebook was to communicate with extended family and some friends. So I never posted memes or anything else I wouldn’t want my grandma to know.

Huh weirdo

Me thinks the issue here is Photoshop.

Honestly I left the shit show because of family and friends over sharing. I really don’t want to know when my little cousin failed “no nut November”
I’d rather ask him in person when he last ejaculated. Typical family greeting before we shake hands.

Better than guessing right after 🤷😂

I keep the account for a couple logins and occasionally market place, oh and the messenger app because it’s the only way to talk to some of my old Army buddies. I check it once or twice every two years. Always surprised how many people still use it.
Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Yeah, I keep my account for messenger too, since my family won’t switch to an alternative. I avoid fb itself when at all possible, though.
