Well DT, I got the placeā¦ and at the original rent no less (thanks, sloppy REAs!). Payment has gone through so itās official.
Iām relieved but alsoā¦ now that itās real my heart is also filled with incredible, crushing sadness. I know itās going to be good for me to downsize and cull and open up my life to new options but I am so, so, sad to have to let go of my comforts here under such ugly circumstances. I canāt even bear to look at my plants, it breaks my heart. Such is life though, isnāt it. Change does not always happen the way we want it to. (and this isnāt by far the worst experience Iāve had having to leave a house)
My plan for tonight is to just make a meta-list of tasks so that I donāt feel too overwhelmed, but after that Iām going to just let the emotions flow through and watch an episode of Shrinking and take it easy. No stiffer up lift tonight. The work will start tomorrow. I know Iāll get through this, there is joy on the other side. ā¤ļøāš©¹

As difficult as it is, it really is such good news. š¤

Sending you my love, I am glad that you have a place to move to.
Iām sorry about your plants, itās difficult to let go, especially when the circumstances are so lame. But there will be a time when you will have plants again to pour your love and care into. This is a temporary stop on your journey, and you have already proven yourself to be capable, intelligent, and motivated. Trust yourself, you are awesome.
Wherever you end up, youāre always always welcome in the DT here. And weāll always be here rooting for you and waving our flags for you š

<3 thank you for this heartwarming message. Like literally heartwarming; I felt relieved being reminded that of course Iāll have future opportunities to have a little garden again. The housing market may be bleak but I have freedom and options up my sleeve that I never had beforeā¦

Itās true :) change is just a bit painful, and through it we sometimes have to let things go. But we also open ourselves up to new experiences and places, opportunities.
There will be plants in your future, I am willing this into being for you :D

Iām so glad to hear you were able to get a place but sad for your plants.
Iād offer to take them up but Iāve have not had a good time with plants myself and Iām sure they donāt like me back due to neglect.
Celebrate tonight and over the weekend.
I hope youāre able to sleep better now that you donāt have to worry about a place.
just_kitten@aussie.zone āØ3ā© āØweeksā© ago
Haha, I wish I could feel celebratory but itās more a blunt/muted sense of relief. For now Iām just enjoying relaxing to some tunes and tucking into dinner in bed. Got some smoked salmon in the fridge as a treat for tomorrow am.
Iām going to make an early start on culling and packing because my brain will need to feel like itās doing something productive otherwise it will eat itself. I think Iāll sleep alright tonight at least š

What kind of plants and setup? (Not asking for anything doxable, just an idea of what you could be working with.)
Thereās a lot of creative ways to have plants, even ones that are just indoor plants. There are also small hydroponic setup kits that could fit on a bench top or windowsill for herbs, bonsai, or air plants.
(Iām so sorry, Iām not good with emotional support and tend to be a fixer but I understand if this is not helpful or wanted)
just_kitten@aussie.zone āØ3ā© āØweeksā© ago
I can probably take most of my indoor plants over, thereās a decent south-facing window ledge. Bedroom is west facing (ugh) without a ledge. The outdoor ones are gonna have to go as theyāre not suitable indoors esp without so much light
This is a really small apartment so there wonāt be much bench top space. Itās alright tbh, Iāve been neglecting my plants the last few months due to exhaustion and I wonāt have that much time over the next few months either. Iāll head to a friendās place to garden if I need a green fix
melbaboutown@aussie.zone āØ3ā© āØweeksā© ago
Ah yeah that could be challenging.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone āØ3ā© āØweeksā© ago
Congratulations!
Im sorry itās such a big change. Having some time to let it out can be incredibly cathartic
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone āØ3ā© āØweeksā© ago
Honestly again Iām more than happy to look after them in the interim until they either follow you and/or for when you find them a new home (I promise I wonāt eat them).

Second this!
just_kitten@aussie.zone āØ3ā© āØweeksā© ago
I appreciate the offer! But many are not long for this world anyway (biannuals/annuals that i didnāt bother replacing).
Iāve got several offers of good homes from friends and colleagues (helps when most of them are into plants heh). Could even take the manzano to the office courtyard. Iām pretty fond of that lil dude
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone āØ3ā© āØweeksā© ago
Glad thereās a plan itās such a roller coaster with plants :)
