    my first thought was Camels are arid climate adapted, and S. E. Asia isn’t arid, if central Asia was mentioned for instance, would have been a bit more convincing

    Certainly in the Ptolemaic Period, and perhaps already under the Persians (525-343 BC)

    I mean that’s about 2000 years after the great pyramids were built.
