Mmm, I think there’s an inverted argument here. Older games didn’t have to be better (we just remember the good ones), but there is a much larger market now of demonstrably horrible games that float by on good graphics and gambling.

Plenty of new and old games have fun gameplay, plenty of new and old games have bad gameplay. You are 100% what the comment your replied to said. You remember the good games, not the many more bad ones.
