  Spices were too expensive for most of the population. Except for the likes of the powdered, wigged gents above.

  My ancestors only had beans on toast to look forward to when they got back from working in the mines.

    You had beans on toast?! We had to wake up an hour before we went to bed and all we had to eat was cold poison! Times were tough in Yorkshire
