Only if your exposure in the future is less than in the past. Otherwise it will just go back up again. And considering plastic use is going up, you would have to use air filters and avoid micro plastics as much as possible.

I does! It also reduced heavy metal levels.
Thankfully the bad type that shouldnât be your blood, and not the cool type that should be playing on your speakers.

Technically, sure, it would reduce the microplastics in your body, but theyâre everywhere in your body, so it wouldnât be by a significant amount.
Jessica@discuss.tchncs.de â¨6⊠â¨days⊠ago
Yea it really does

Some recent study also found that mucilaginous fiber binds with PFAS the same way that it binds with cholesterol to keep the body from absorbing it. PFAS already in your system is believed to be reintroduced to your digestive system through bile excretion, some binds with the fiber and leaves your system, the rest is absorbed.
If you donât eat a lot of food with mucilage, the main ingredient in Metamucil has mucilaginous fiber, as the name suggests.
The study author in the interview I read emphasized it wasnât like âtake fiber for a few months and PFAS is all gone,â she and her husband just incorporated a mucilage supplement into their diets because of how prevalent it is in the environment.

Got link any chance? Would help me in telling my friends and loved ones to take poop pills with me because of the plastic in bodies (Iâll take my poop polls with or without a link just because I like the cut of your jib)

I donât think this was the exact article I read, but hereâs another discussing the research: https://www.uml.edu/news/stories/2025/pfas-detox.aspx

Does this also mean woman after their period have less plastic?
Jessica@discuss.tchncs.de â¨6⊠â¨days⊠ago
Yes. Also during pregnancy. A lot of it is diverted to the fetus
Little8Lost@lemmy.world â¨5⊠â¨days⊠ago
so babies have already a high amount of plastics pre-birth?
shneancy@lemmy.world â¨6⊠â¨days⊠ago
how do i know how much plastic is in my blood?
Jessica@discuss.tchncs.de â¨6⊠â¨days⊠ago
Well supposedly thereâs enough in the tissue in your brain to make a credit card or a plastic disposable spoon depending on what article you read
user224@lemmy.sdf.org â¨6⊠â¨days⊠ago
A lot if it looks like rainbow.
Lightor@lemmy.world â¨6⊠â¨days⊠ago
Weigh it
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social â¨5⊠â¨days⊠ago
Keeping in mind that youâre getting rid of the plastic in your blood by getting rid of her blood
