Funny joke, but this type of smugness is why Democrats keep losing elections lol.

Thanks for sharing. How does the fish one work? The dolphin I get because it breathes oxygen, but don’t all fish have gills? I feel like it should be in the water.

I do think less dialogue can work great for setting an interesting atmospheric tone. Some of my favorite films have little to no dialogue. But yeah it is weird how many Star Wars shows follow this template. Some of them were very bad too. Interesting that Andor didn’t make this list.

I only watch a handful of new movies a year. Usually prefer to go back and watch old movies I’ve never seen before. Yet I really enjoyed this one.

- Comment on Google makes Android development private, will continue open source releases 1 month ago:
The main 2 challenges I can think of is lack of native app support, phone hardware being pretty proprietary, and lack of carrier compatibility. Any truly open phone OS would have to emulate Android or iOS apps which would be very demanding on resources. Or just exclusively have web apps and fully open source apps of which there are very few for phones. Then you’d have to reverse engineer the chips that talk to the towers and/or get cell carriers to release firmware. Just overall a mess that has basically translated into the smartphone market being dominated by megacorps.

- Comment on 'Dune 3', With Timothee Chalamet & Zendaya, Aims To Shoot This Summer 2 months ago:
I don’t think Leto would’ve been able to go through with the Golden Path either if he had ever been a normal human. Leto even calls himself an abomination which is what the Bene Gesserit were testing for at the beginning of the entire story. Paul is a human so he has flaws and can’t follow all the way through with dehumanizing himself to realize the Golden Path. Leto was never human in the first place. He was an abomination so the path was achievable for him. That’s my interpretation anyway.
- Comment on 'Dune 3', With Timothee Chalamet & Zendaya, Aims To Shoot This Summer 2 months ago:
Yep, I remember the line from the book. To me that shows self reflection/awareness that Hitler would’ve never been capable of. Paul understands that he does monstrous things and might be a monster himself. I think it really wears on him which is why the ending happens the way it does. There were ways out of the situation if he really wanted to go full blown space Hitler.
- Comment on 'Dune 3', With Timothee Chalamet & Zendaya, Aims To Shoot This Summer 2 months ago:
I’ve always thought the space Hitler thing was a pretty big misunderstanding or generalization of Paul’s character. Hitler couldn’t see the result of all outcomes and pick the least bad outcome in the same way. Paul could literally see the future and decided his path would result in the least amount of suffering. No human has ever been forced to experience that burden. I think he’s a fascinating character and the oversimplifications irk me a bit.

- Comment on Mastodon’s founder cedes control to non-profit 3 months ago:
Mastodon has to be one of the most heavily moderated social media apps I’ve ever used. I’m sure it depends on the instance, but that’s kind of the nature of open source. Anyone can use the technology to post what they want. That’s why defederation exists. In what way would you want it to be even more moderated?

Haven’t seen anyone mention the biggest deal breaker with these for me. The thermal and dust management is truly awful. They tend to overheat and collect dust super easily. You’re lucky if you get 4 years out of these things before they burn themselves out. And guess what? Barely repairable to boot.
