  That’s because a) the EU is a coalition of many different countries who all have their own flags, and b) we don’t fetishize our flags nearly as much as Americans. Many countries have laws against putting the flag on merchandise, because it’s seen as disrespectful.

    TIL fetish doesn’t always mean sexual. I dont think as an American ive ever held an American flag or wore one.

    I do remember wearing Puerto Rican flags as a kid at Puerto Rican parades. But not as an adult.

    But yeah, we’re kinda weird with patriotism. Its always made me uncomfortable.
