Happy Birthday! Hope despite your feels, you have a good day. Could have written this myself, I also get the birthday sads, for the exact same reasons. I donāt have a solution just sympathy, and letting you know youāre not the only one. Stay away from social media for a few days (or forever!) where your friends/family are posting about achievements and having fun. Comparison can hurt. Also remember, people rarely post the bad stuff, and frequently embellish the good stuff.

Today is my birthday and Iām going through my usual sadness phase about turning a year older. Feelings of total failure are creeping as I wish I would have achieved more by now, going into later 30s. I need to work harder at changing up the things I donāt like about my life. Some days, I feel like Iāve just given up making any meaningful changes.
Iām hoping I feel more positive in the morning. Have rooftop arvo drinks / dinner planned with a few friends which should be nice. Will do a few urgent things for work in the morning, but otherwise Iām taking most of the day off. Working wonāt make my day any better, thatās for sure.
Sorry for the late night rant but typing this all out helps.

I get the birthday-sads too, I know a few people who do as well. I think itās normal to assess our station in life when our birthdays roll around again, especially after 30. I, too, wish I had achieved more by now or worked harder, made different decisions, but we cannot go back in time. Mourning could-have-beens is okay, but donāt let it consume you, you have agency and autonomy now and can only change your future.
Try and look forward to the celebrations you have on today, and enjoy yourself. Life is ultimately full of ups and downs, stops and starts, and itās okay to feel that you may not be at the same place as your peers, but it isnāt something to beat yourself up about. We each go through life at different speeds, and thatās okay! Youāre an awesome, kind, and funny person, Iām sure you bring happiness and joy to the people who know you. I am truly wishing you a happy birthday! ššš
