That would be greatly appreciated! I considered the USB stick, but didn’t really get as far as where to leave the decrypt code.

This is brilliant! I didn’t consider all the scenarios. And it changes everything.
Can you share details about what those guides look like?

Back in the day you got pizza in 30 minutes or less. Now it’s over an hour, it’s cold, and not quite what you ordered.
Now get offa mah lawn!

This has been a serious consideration. My family travels any possible chance they get. :D

What is the something else? As far as I can tell, all the password managers suck. Just seemed to me that 1Password sucked less.

Lol… Go to the bank? In my horse and carriage? Not many people physically go to the bank these days, at least where I live. My closest branch is about 200 miles from me, so that’s not going to happen.
And no, nobody will care what I listened to. But my kid will certainly care about how to access what little money I have left. If he can’t log into my accounts to see who I even bank with, or know where to look, that’s a huge problem. I’m hoping to make his life easier.
You are also sadly mistaken if you really think “you don’t need account access for the important stuff”.

I am a little biased toward 1Password, and they have a guide that has really good points. But in the end, they say to print out their “Emergency Kit” and store it will your will/estate. So, not much better than leaving a password behind (or any other shared secret). I guess I’ll have to set up some sort of irl treasure hunt…

- Comment on Just got arrested for a supposed DWI even though I blew a 0.0000000. Don't cops need to read your Miranda rights to you? I asked for a blood or hair follicle test and I was denied. WTH is happening? 1 month ago:
This day and age you should be grateful you only got a ticket and you’re not in a concentration camp somewhere.
In all seriousness, yes cops suck. Go to court, if they got nothing, you may be able to get out of it.

I get that. My dad passed away when I was 19. I’m in my 50s now, and I still miss him. Not as much as I used to, but there will be a great song come on that reminds of him, or how he’d be impressed with my kid. And just every now and then I think about how he’d totally love all the technology we have these days. Man, this thread hit me in the feels.
I’m just saying that it gets easier over time, but it’s always there. YMMV

How did you digitize the 8mm? I managed to get through most of the VHS tapes I had with mixed results. 8mm looked daunting.

Yeah, probably about that range.
There have been a few good ideas here. A repeat is a local historical society, which I didn’t think of.

Close! Pismo Beach area. You are allowed to drive on the beach as long as you pay to get in.
It’s also where people learn hard lessons about tides and parking too close to the water.
