They didn’t share a border until the Soviets and NAZIs jointly invaded their neighbor Poland.
- Comment on Casual reminder 4 months ago:
Exactly, the country that shared a massive land border with the NAZIs and was a direct target of their aggression suffered many more casualties than the ones what didn’t, who’da thunk it? Without the combined efforts of essentially the entire rest of the world, the USSR would have been toast.

And the Ukrainians, and the Poles, and the French resistance, and the British, and the Americans, and the Canadians, and…

Try potatoes. They’re ridiculously cheap (where I am) and loaded with nutrients.

I was a freshman in college that fall and someone put up flyers for a memorial dance party in his honor. They had cheap beer and loud music which was fun enough for teenage me.

English can be difficult for western Europeans because it is the mutant child of both Germanic and Latin based languages that picks and chooses which words and rules to use at random.

I have you tagged on Connect as “ask about the stick”, and so now I must ask, about the stick?

Every player on the same switch plays on the same island. Only one player can actually play at a time, but another can join on a separate controller and act as a sort of sidekick that can fish and pick vegetables and such. My husband and I like to split of the gardening across the island then take turns helping each other with our respective sections.

Animal Crossing sorta has 2p mode. The second player can’t walk too far from the main player and has more limited gameplay options, but it can be fun to run around and fish together.

I would highly recommend rewatching Vice. I wasn’t a fan when it first came out, but when I went back and rewatched it last year it becameone of my favorites. It’s got a different style than the first few seasons, but it’s great in its own right.

I used to work 9:30a-8p four days a week and it was actually a pretty sweet gig. I did nothing but work and sleep for four days, then had three days off every weekend.

While I appreciate where you’re coming from, I can assure you that, in this scenario, it was very much a case of homophobia. Unless everyone there grew new personalities at the same time that I came out.

Thanks, I didn’t realize it happened either until one day it happened to me. Then it happened again, and again. Not frequent, and not always as tangible as being denied pizza, but little things here and there in the way people look at me and treat me that only started happening after I came out. I have yet to experience any actual violence, but the general vibe is such that I don’t feel comfortable being out and am considering moving to a more friendly state.

This is anecdotal but I have seen this as a gay man living in Ohio. My whole family is from the sticks but I live just outside a major city now. There’s a pizza place back home that my fiance and I can’t go to because they won’t serve him (he is, admittedly, quite fabulous). I can go alone, because I blend in, but him they will just quietly ignore and occasionally glance over to check if he’s gotten the hint yet. No yelling, no epithets, but no service either.
