Unfortunately for some, that pressure is real and entirely illogical. For the longest time my wife would start getting anxious and frustrated when someone tailgated her and would start to speed up… Only to contue getting tailgated by the same person. Took a lot of insistence from me to not play their stupid game for her to realize that not only was it stupid to speed up for them, but more dangerous and entirely illegal to start speeding just because of a tailgater.

What part of TERF ideology is actually feminist and not a thinly veiled mask for conservative-based gender essentialist ideology that feminism at its core has been fighting against since it’s inception, just this time aimed at trans women to protect “real women”?
I’m genuinely curious because all the advocacy I’ve seen from TERFS is all about demonizing transgender women, infantilizing transgender men and… Siding suspiciously often with conservatives more than their supposed ideological ancestors.

Then literally just say “could be better”. It’s the truth, and phrased in such a way that a stranger you’re exchanged pleasantries with doesn’t have to feel awkward about it.

Hell I live in an area that asks it as a greeting and I don’t lie. Sometimes I sugarcoat it with “could be better” but like, no one ever makes me feel like a dumbass for being honest.

Okay but what is good engagement against “follow the science” aside from “I literally DO the science”? Dr. McCreight offered a point and was met with “nuh uh” so at that point it can hardly be called an argument or debate. Do those fallacies honestly matter at that point when one refuses to engage with tangible points of discussion?

For the item box, open the sub-menu. First option is auto-sort.
- Comment on Mr. Grey, can I go to the bathroom? 4 months ago:
Assuming a dub is equally as well acted as a sub, would you still say the sub is better? I would argue no, neither is objectively better, but an English speaker watching a sub will lose a lot of the acting nuance unless they’re on some level familiar with how Japanese speakers emphasize and intone their speech.
Hearing it in your native tongue will, in general and in my opinion, help viewers connect with the story and characters more easily and potentially much better because you don’t need to study to intuitively understand characters just through tone.

Ay girl you work at Jersey Mike’s? Because you’re a sub above.

What about it? Hell of a lot lore likely with caffeine and we don’t make you age verify when a kid buys coffee or tea or soda. If addiction occurs, that’s the jurisdiction of medical professionals and the person’s support network.

Actually this is probably something good to discuss with him directly. Brainstorming ways of grabbing his attention in a way that respects his privacy together goes a long way toward earning good will, even if you make a mistake later on. Sometimes brain just stops working. My mom has always been good about respecting my privacy, but one day she just opened my door, something she never made a habit of doing and started talking… Right in the middle of some self-care.
As embarrassed as I was, we were laughing about it the day after. She was excited to tell me something nice is all, and I could trust her apology afterward because of our rapport. How could I stay mad?

Basically, if you’re from lemmy.ml, everything is censored looking from the inside out. If you’re on another instance looking from the outside into lemmy.ml, you’ll only see posts FROM it censored.
- Comment on Murica 4 months ago:
Probably because the uncensored comment isn’t be posted from lemmy.ml, unlike the first post. Posting and viewing from the instance in question will probably censor every occurrence.
