- Comment on The System Shock 2 remaster comes out June 26th 1 week ago:
Bioshock was a cut down version of the “shock” gameplay - no inventory management, much more linear path, etc.
I remember at the time people complained that it was “dumbed down for console”.
I still enjoyed it though, but I can see why veterans of the genre would feel things are missing or fall short while newcomers would be blown away.

Men are also gay for going down on women, for some reason.

Sea urchins? We have those on land, too, they’re called land sea urchins.

Only if that channel was private. You don’t have to join a channel to be able to read its contents.

Not a clue!
- Comment on Following the Switch 2 Reveal, Phil Spencer Says Microsoft Is 'Really Looking Forward' to Supporting Nintendo With Xbox Games 1 month ago:
Why are you excited at the prospect of less competition in the gaming space?
You don’t have to like Microsoft at all, don’t buy their stuff, but they’re still a major competitor to Sony, Nintendo and Valve - and losing them would do more harm than good. Losing any of them would.

- Comment on KFC drops pledge to stop using ‘Frankenchickens’ in the UK 3 months ago:
KFC’s reasoning is that the chicken supply industry hasn’t transitioned to more humanitarian chickens yet, but frustratingly the article doesn’t validate this claim.
It KFC is correct and they’re reliant on an industry that hasn’t got the supply it needs, then it’s impossible for them to meet the targets they set and it makes sense they would have to walk back the pledge.
However if the industry does have that supply, then KFC is full of shit.
So which is it?

Don’t worry about not having any insights, I still valve-ued the pun.
- Comment on Anon takes the horsepill 4 months ago:
I also had a colleague in the UK casually talking in the break room if she should buy a house or a horse because they were comparatively expensive.

You know what, shout out to Concord here. The official definition of a concord:
agreement or harmony between people or groups.
Everyone did in fact agree not to play the game.
- Comment on Steven Spielberg is ‘a big PC Gamer’ — loves shooters, and insists on keyboard and mouse 5 months ago:
Yup I’m with you here. I love KBM and it’s my preferred way to play for most games, but when it comes to driving I’d much prefer a controller with analogue triggers and a stick (unless it’s a sim racer, in which case a wheel of course) for that extra precision.
Unfortunately I can’t think of a good design to give that level of control to just one hand. Analogue keys are a thing but they sound awful, nowhere near enough precision due to the short travel of them.

I went to the cinema on Saturday and didn’t get a trailer for this. This post is the first I’ve heard of it too.
- Comment on Anon has a discord gf 6 months ago:
Yup, with a LD relationship like that, you have to fill in a lot of blanks about someone that you can’t determine - how are they in the morning? Do they pick up after themselves? Do they have any gross habits? There’s tonnes of little things that are entirely irrelevant in a remote setting but can really make a difference in person.
And naturally when you fill in those blanks, you tend to only fill them in with positives or you just don’t think about all those little things.

- Comment on Please stop making Alien movies 7 months ago:
I’m with you on the covers analogy, but I feel the best covers take the source material and do something different with it to set it apart.
I haven’t seen aliens Romulus yet myself, but it sounds like the ‘cover’ here doesn’t really stand out or do anything different to the original.

One of the “protect our children” protests in the UK yesterday involved burning down a brand new library because…reasons, I guess?
If you ever had any doubts about the right wing protests affecting the UK, remember they burned down a local community library for no fucking reason.

TNG’s the inner light is one of its best episodes and it spectacularly fails this test.

Wait, What’s this about corned beef? I am Irish (as in actually from Ireland) and I have no idea what that has to do with St Patrick’s day?

It’s also worth pointing out that OLED’s solve many of the drawbacks of LCD’s, particularly around latency and response times.

- Comment on Everyday, as an American 9 months ago:
In the UK we’re mostly using metric with the odd exception (we still love a pint of beer), one of which is that speeds are measured in MPH. It’s not really a big deal, there aren’t many customers between miles and kilometres and anything less than a km is still usually measured in metres.

I’m pretty sure Warrington’s bus service is owned by the council and it’s dire. Expensive, infrequent and the buses are old.

- Comment on what the heck is a pensioner in the UK and why are they the butt of so many jokes ? 11 months ago:
However, they usually own the house they live in, so don’t quite get sympathy from younger folks who are struggling just as much and can’t even get on the property ladder.
(Yes there’s exceptions to both sides and would you believe it, the truth is somewhat more nuanced).
