You and me both. I love documentaries and when I get on a space kick, I think about this a lot. What did it look like? What’s nothing? My brain can’t fathom literally nothing. It had to be some sort of something. Almost makes me want to say that the universe does have a creator, but in that case, where’d the creator come from? (My favorite creation myth is that the Goddess danced and galaxies spun off on her dress. Makes as much sense as any of the others.)

This is actually really cool. I have no idea about any of it, but I remember watching a documentary a long time ago that said certain mathematical patterns repeat all over nature. What you said seems similar to that.

I swear the bunnies in my neighborhood would do this. They’re super cute, but not very smart.

Of course my breathing is all I can think about now.
- Comment on hmm 11 months ago:
It depends on how you think about it. I think of it as giving my kids a piece of myself in my love and effort to care for them. They are their own people, but they carry a part of me.

I don’t think this person believes that people are actively making up intrusive thoughts or talking about something that doesn’t happen. It seems like they’re saying that thoughts, any thoughts, are our imagination, intrusive or otherwise.

So did my then five year old. She had a period where she went through an entire hand soap dispenser every two days until we got her to quit. She still uses shampoo, but as far as we can tell, only (mostly?) when we give her permission. It doesn’t run out super fast.

Ours has a function where you press and hold one of the numbers and it turns off the beeps. Not sure what it is anymore, but most people should be able to look it up and find one for their microwave.

Don’t listen to them. They’re exaggerating. Fuck cars is about wanting infrastructure to make more places walkable, not insisting everywhere must be walkable or accessible by public transit. Even though that would be cool, that’s so far from the actual truth.

I never would have seen this without the “repost”. I don’t get why people are so offended about seeing something again. Don’t like it? Saw it before? Keep scrolling then.

“primary highlight of public education is that it is free daycare for their exhausted, working parents.”
In their eyes. That doesn’t make it true. Education is, and should be treated as, the backbone of society.

Yeah, that’s the advice. Just no one be a teacher. Great! Now what are all the kids going to do to get into their own fields?

I see that, but it doesn’t mean that bigger cities couldn’t have different departments handle it

I like “unburden the police”. Take away things that aren’t actual policing. Cops don’t need to be out there doing animal control for example.

- Comment on Do Multivitamins actually do anything? 1 year ago:
Considering I don’t like eggs, no I can’t. Eggs are gross. I continue to take a prenatal vitamin because something about it prevents my headaches. My doctor theorized it’s the calcium and magnesium, but taking those separately doesn’t help. Maybe it’s the dosage in the prenatal or something else in deficienct in, but it really helps me.

- Comment on why isn't the use of the bidet more widespread? 1 year ago:
Bad connotations
- Prostitutes
- Thought it was a contraceptive
- Luxury - you’re a snob
- Thought you were promiscuous
Helps menstruation - omg, ew!
Used to be a wash basin in the bedroom

The doctor I know works 12 hour shifts, has a really nice, but nowhere near million dollar house, and isn’t ER or ICU. Anecdotes are just anecdotes.

Seems like you have a sweet deal somewhere. I can’t remember when I last saw spaghetti sauce that cheap and my chicken is 4.59 a pound.
- Comment on Really Tired of Subscriptions 1 year ago:
It’s a little funny, but it’s better to crowd source a society and pay for things up front than it is to have every single thing be a toll. Could you imagine fire fighters verifying your credit card before they come out?
