Book version. In the movie version they absolutely can cause physical harm. A ghost sword and Aragorn’s even stop each other, iirc.
- Comment on Game Pass Ultimate subs don't get DLC discounts any more, Microsoft confess, amid reports about Call of Duty sales cannibalisation 3 days ago:
Maybe you shouldn’t have bought Activision for $69 **billion **dollars, idiots. Now you have to monetize the shit out of everything for the next decade to try to justify it, studios have no sales figures to show for their work, Game Pass is shedding subscribers like crazy, and consumers have less healthy competition. Fuck Microsoft.
- Comment on More Online CO-OP Games should have option to pause 4 days ago:
Like any other game mechanic, there are times it makes sense to have it as an option, and times it doesn’t. If it’s a 100% PvE cooperative game you’re playing with a close friend you know well, sure; why not? Let either player pause the game for everyone. At least some of Hazelight Studios’ games feature this (A Way Out, It Takes Two, Split Fiction).
But for competitive fighting games or ones with many players, it could be abused, or just be too annoying to enable. Maybe in the latter type an in-game voting system where everyone has to agree to pause the action?

- Comment on whatever happened to in-store coffee grinders? 1 week ago:
Coffee-buying has increasingly gone gourmet. I think most people who brew coffee at home have a grinder. But ground coffee starts losing its quality pretty soon after it’s exposed to air, so grinding fresh only matters if you brew it right after grinding. For people who only make coffee for guests or only drink it only for the caffeine, there’s pre-ground options. Also, grocery stores don’t want to sacrifice that valuable shelf real estate for the large grinder…

I know, I know: “it’s a shitpost”. But there’s not a single type of music that sounds better at full blast. And if you inflict your music on others in public instead of using headphones, you’re an asshole.

That’s not because of weight though. That’s just one thing being affected more by air resistance. In a vacuum, there would be no difference. In fact, they did just that during the Apollo 15 mission on the moon using a feather and a hammer:

FYI, the attitude “I haven’t personally experienced it, so it either doesn’t exist or I don’t care”, whether online or off is considered extremely immature and selfish by most people.

Just creating this division is proof RFK should resign. We knew he was an activaxxer and against science, but enforcing his personal opinion on the entire country is unforgivable. At-risk children, elderly, and others will die because of his bias…

I know some whine that the money could be used to literally solve world hunger forever. Or to help needy people, or sick kids, or to fund tangible scientific progress… But they’re not thinking about the fact that instead, we’re going to have the absolute best hallucinations from the richest companies!

If he’s “able-bodied”, why are you taking care of him? If you’re able-bodied, why is he financially taking care of you? That’s not judgement btw, but you should both have an answer for it…
Is this a temporary situation while one of you (or ideally both) prepare for the next Big Thing? That could be school, exercise, training, dating, moving, founding, socializing, building, improving, etc. But if you’re not doing that, you’re each holding yourself back. As for what to call it, I don’t know, but that’s my unsolicited advice.
