Gotcha, that makes sense. It’s always baffling to me how we often treat animals with more dignity than people when it comes to end of life care.

If you’re willing to share, I would be interested in hearing your reasoning for a DNR if it’s outside of the typical cases (terminal, elderly, etc.). I don’t know a ton about what all they do to resuscitate beyond CPR/AED (when necessary) and possibly general life support measures

Not the original commenter, but my understanding is that it’s used for severe depression when other treatments have been unsuccessful, so sort of a last resort. And apparently it’s fairly effective iirc, especially when compared to other treatment options (e.g., antidepressants).
I’m curious as to whether having a seizure disorder would correlate with lower depression rates, or if electroshock-induced seizures may lead to higher chances of having non-induced seizures in the future.

My theory is that if YouTube profiles people as likely 18-45 yr old male, then they shove right wing propaganda down your throat even if you don’t align with it in any other way based on subscriptions/search history/etc.

Gotcha, I thought you were implying that women on birth control can just skip the placebo pills by starting the next pack each time to avoid having a period altogether. Which is absolutely true, and has been known for decades.
My point was: because of the placebos being factored into the number of days for a prescription, if a woman decides to do that, then she will eventually run out of birth control well before her next prescription is available for refill. Afaik, doctors can’t prescribe an additional pack or 2 of birth control for a specific prescription timeframe, and insurance would likely deny that anyways if they did. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my understanding here in the US.
(Sorry for the slow reply, I’m terrible about checking notifications)

Yes and your prescription then runs out early, leaving you without birth control for multiple weeks

- Comment on What are some good things to purchase to add a new distraction to my life? 5 weeks ago:
Watching movies. There’s so many movies, both good and bad. Sometimes bad movies are fun too, especially horror.
Others have mentioned video games. I’ve gotten into emulation using Batocera. Can be installed on old hard drives/raspberry pis.
Depending on your space/climate, gardening and/or growing mushrooms.
I’ve been looking more into home improvement and homesteading.
I also just tend to get fixated on random things that interest me and go down rabbit holes.

Not to mention all the dependencies for everything, I’ve gone multiple layers deep trying to install dependencies for the dependencies just to use a single module. Tbf I’ve mostly used Linux for bioinformatics so perhaps the problem for me is biologists creating software for other biologists and none are truly computer scientists (including myself)

I’ve explained to many adults, many with college educations, that insects are animals. Understandable for those who don’t realize corals are animals, but they think bugs are plants or something? Smh

Have you looked into shoe inserts that essentially reduce the size of the shoe interior? My friend has extremely small feet and faces a similar problem of not finding shoes that are small enough, and I think she’s had some luck with the inserts

There are many tube worms that do have digestive tracts, but I assume you are talking about chemosymbiotic tube worms that are found in methane seeps and hydrothermal vents. These guys essentially live in farts (hydrogen sulfide, methane), which their symbionts use for chemosynthesis.
- Comment on Hey, do americans just want to take a break from normal politics for a bit and focus all our efforts solely on the wild boar problem? 8 months ago:
I’ve only have wild boar jerky before and it was pretty tasty, but you gotta get the meat tested first bc they can carry some serious diseases.
Sorta fun fact from my organizmal bio teacher: the reason you never hear about pork being cooking medium rare is that we are fairly closely related to pigs and so we are susceptible to many of the diseases that can infect pigs.

I remember this happening too. It was mostly fast food restaurants that were supposedly going to shut down bc “young people would rather sit back on the stimulus check than work minimum wage in shit conditions” while boomers couldn’t stand missing their mcfatty meal at every whim. That’s how the news spun the narrative around 2020-2022 during the height of the anti work movement. I’m sure I could find a source if I visibly gags checked my old reddit account
